Is anyone watching the speech that she's currently giving in Virginia?
She completely lacks class
Bush bashing, now she's going after McCain even though he's not been declared (officially) the nominee.

CR you hit it on the head. We are doomed. I am only voting for McCain because there isnt anyone else to vote for. I am sure not voting for a Clinton. And I really think that if Obama gets elected it will just be another Kennedy situation. I dont feel comfortable voting for a man I feel will die because of that vote.

I dont know what to think about this election. All around we are doomed, regardless of who wins. There are so many problems going on that whoever gets elected will not be able to straighten them all out. I guess I'll just crawl into a cave and wait it out till its all over.

This is definitely one where you have to choose between the lesser of two evils...not just a saying anymore. I don't think there has been a decent candidate on the republican side for years, or since Reagan, and the democrats haven't looked too swell either. Maybe the smart ones don't want that job. I know I wouldn't.
Being a president is like being a prisoner. There is no where you can go anymore without a whole crew of vehicles and secret service with a lot of prior planning. Just think if you couldn't jump in your car and run up to the store to grab a coke or do any of the things you like to do. Yeah, you are the leader of the free world, but your freedom is gone with the wind. And it doesn't end when you are through. They are continually with you after your term is complete....for a certain amount of time. Why would anyone want that? You have to be extremely power hungry to want that.

Exactly what did Bill Clinton do to make the economy boom when he was in office?
He signed the laws that the Republicans sent him called "Contract with America".
In fact the last 2 years of the BC administrations was the long slide into a repression.
Remember the Dot Com bust? The Japanese recession?
In fact the economy was the impetus for getting GWB in, with his talk of decreased taxes.
If only GWB would have stuck with conservative principles....

I agree. I think GWB's downfall was the poor job he did on selling the war in Iraq. He should never have "asssumed" the war on terror gave him cart blanche to go into Iraq. I'm for it, but he didn't sell it. People don't like that. :smt009

So far. We will learn much more as time goes on and they have to actually say something worth listening to. But I have no difficulty deciding that McCain is less liberal by far than either of the Dem candidates. He has international experience. He will protect the country better. He won't raise taxes and he will close the border. He's said that. That alone is more than than the socialists want to do.

He has said a lot of things. He said he would find a path to citizenship for some illegal immigrants before he said he would close the border. He voted against Bush's tax cuts before he supported the program and wants to make it permanent. Wonder what it's going to be tomorrow :smt102

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh today and a dem called in. Sweet lady wanting to know about Obama and Hillary and who he thought would win. He spent 15 minutes expounding on that subject. Heh heh heh. He can be a bit loquacious. But he said "It doesn't matter who wins. Hillary will get the nomination." His point was, Hillary has planned on the white house for years. She put up with Bill's crap since he was Gov. of Arkansas. She's worked for this and she will cause a riot on the floor of the convention if they don't give her Florida and Michigan's delegates. She counting them and will stop at nothing to be President. But what if they don't give them to her. BS. The Clintons own the Democratic Party and they will get them.
Interesting point of view I thought.

How true, that she has been on a power ride for years, reason she put up with Bill's adultry. I would have more respect for her had she sent him packing after the white house and THEN ran for President....wouldn't that be sweet revenge. Well, I am not voting for her and I just hope that the Democratic Party wants a winner. Side note, why does Rush think that the Clintons own the Democratic Party??

My wife recently commented that not only do losing sports teams often have a dedicated following of hardcore believers, but also often win a large number of supporters for no other reason but that they are the underdogs. She wondered why we don`t see that spirit of fight for the underdog more often in American politics.

Can I assume you told her?
It's about power. It's not a game. It's for 300,000 people not 75,000 and it's for four years not 60 minutes. It's for untold millions of dollars, not one or two. About the only thing I can think of that's comparable is the need to feed a enormous ego. :-D

Ok I've already posted this on the other Hillary board but just in case you missed it, here it is again:
McCain would be an utterly useless president. Listen to the debates. Look at his "issues" pages on his website. The only clear stances he takes all have to do with the war. If Bush wraps this thing in Iraq up within the next 6 months or so (which he will if he feels there is a strong chance of a Dem. president, because he won't leave that situation in the hands of the Dems.), then McCain will have nothing. He doesn't even want to do away with "No Child Left Behind" for crying out loud! And we all know what an epic failure that program has been. At least Hillary has a clear and concise plan for not only education reform (of which we are in DIRE need here in the South), but also the issue of reforming Iraq while cutting back on the billions of dollars we are spending over there and having some of our troops return. The surge is working; however, we aren't implementing the politics to back it up. It is vital for whoever gets elected to execute plans that will keep enough of a military presence over there to help reeducate current and future generations (as opposed to just jerking out like Obama wants to do), while also making them more responsible for running their own government. Hillary can do this. Obama can't. It's not even that Obama can't do it, but he won't. He doesn't have the political clout that the 20 year Clinton dynasty has. People who say "I don't see why anyone would vote for Hillary" are just ignorant of the politics behind the woman, and aren't up on her platform positions. Her energy conservation platform is another one that trumps the other candidates' by far. McCain doesn't even have a plan for this. Ok so he flip flopped around with the ethanol issue in Iowa a bit back but still didn't really take a stance; just said what he thought he needed to say to placate his audience there. McCain is weak candidate. Obama's biggest "platform" seems to be his "charisma," of which i haven't really seen any. He stumbles around with words and looks down at the ground a lot. Furthermore, Obama is a bit too radical for my preference (although if I hear one more "educated white person" talking about how they'd never vote for him because he's black, I'm going to puke. Just because you're racist, don't give anyone any more of a reason to further stereotype the rest of us). Hillary is the way to go.
