:clap:Only 363 days to go until WHLT will finally HAVE to start broadcasting in HiDef...

of course, even if they are HD, they can still drop their broadcast signal right at the critical moment in the final of a reality series that you've been watching for weeks, i.e., Survivor finale.

So does this transition I keep hearing about really mean my tv won't work in a year? Cause that's gonna suck.

So does this transition I keep hearing about really mean my tv won't work in a year? Cause that's gonna suck.If you're on cable, you'll be fine. If you pick up stations using an antenna then you'll need a converter box. The feds will be giving out $40 coupons towards the purchase of a converter box, though.

The boxes currently sell for $59 + tax, so you'll be out $20 for them.

Is this when the local channels will be forced to let the satellite companies carry them?

No. The satellite company chooses which local channels to carry. The local channels refuse to let satellite companies provide "out of area" network feeds because they claim the viewers do not receive the benefit of local advertising. The satellite companies claim it is not cost-effective to provide local channels to such a small market like we have in south Mississippi.

If you want local channels, get a BIG antenna. Then have your hubby go out and spin it when it is raining and lightening....

I'm looking at HDTV's now anyway. Consumer Reports says 42" and under, Panasonic is the best in plasma TV's. Is is LED? They are better in larger screens. I think I'm remembering that correctly, because I have no clue what plasma and LED are. That's why I read CS. I only need a 36" or 42". I'm not impressed by filling my whole room with life sized people.

My parents have satellite and pick up local stations by antenna. They have a booster, but not sure that it's a good one. They can get WLOX, but sometimes goes out. But only rarely get a digital signal from WXXV. Has anyone tried a Winegard booster? I know that they are supposed to be one of the best...but not sure how much better they are than the regular Walmart brands.
