There is not one. They both lie, steal, cheat (in various ways), and did I mention lie?

If a Republican was on fire I might piss on him, with a Democrat I'd be lookin' for marshmallows.

I think that this set of questions over what the differences are is rather moot. It is obvious that they are the same crap. I hear that alot but it honestly is true.

The only difference between a Rep & a Dem is what they pretend to support during the election.

What about an independent.....Is that someone like me who questions everything and trusts no one single person/party anymore?

I was expecting lots of informative responses here by those of you who contantly argue about politics. I think it is a great question by the way, FB.

There really can be no informative responses because they are the same. Now you can argue the difference in philosophy. But not the party.

An independent is either a Rep or a Dem (doesn't matter) who's too much of a pu$$y to admit it.

Democrats are more socialist....more welfare, socialized medicine, ect. Republicans tend to support more benefits to businesses and less tax on investment income, ect.

I don't think so Ford. I think an independent is one like me now. I look at what all is happening between the two parties and who they have up for nomination(who they are pushing on us) and I am just like wth?:smt102

I would have to agree with that but I would also say that Republicans have a tendency to spend money on our overseas adventures. Some also arguably may exhibit fascist tendencies. So, in summation, Reps and Dems are two wings of the same bird. They both seek to blow money. They both want illegals over the border for various reasons. They both want to clamp down on our civil liberties (Repubs=spying, bedroom activities) (Dems=love the UN, and the other sovereignty-overidding organizations). Rather you want to admit it or not they both love war, or something would have already been done about it. Good Lord the list could go on.

That is similar to many explanations I've heard before CG. It really cannot be explained with a cut & cry answer. For example, I am for major welfare reform. Now by some peoples definition I would be Rep. However, I believe gay people should have the right to marry. One would think that is a Dem idea right? My point is most people are not either/or. This whole conservative/ liberal, Rep/Dem thing clouds the real issues IMO. No candidate is going to be 100% one or the other either.

With Democrats, the government is your parents and your back at home, they provide everything you need and protect you.
With Republicans, your in college and you call home every now and then for money, and they will come help you out if you really need it. Otherwise, your on your own.
Someone please explain to me what the real difference is in a Democrat and a Republican. Please.:smt102
Not much.

I really believe there is not big philosophical difference. It's about power. The two parties are merely the money raisers to run their candidate for the White House. If Obama or Hillary were Republicans the Dems would not vote for them and the same holds true w/ McCain. That's why every democrat tries to move to the center during the campaign and every Republican tries to move to the center too.

Such a typical response and one that get's my dander up. I'm a democrat and am NOT a liberal. That's just a Republicans attempt to deflect from the subject. I also know a lot of Republicans that are NOT conservative. Here is a question for you Remington, DEFINE a Conservative. I anxiously await your response because the other definitions I have seen in the past there isn't a Conservative Republican to be found in any branch of Government.
To me it boils down to this:
A Democrat is for the common working man. A Republican is for the rich and powerful.

Wouldn't your question be more appropriate if it asked:
"Someone please explain to me what the real difference is in the Democratic and Republican platforms?"
That sorta leaves personalities OUT of the equation and is less inclined to elicit wise-a$$ comments that do nothing other than further freeping responses that answer nothing substantive, but in fact drive the wedge between us all that much deeper.

Yes, the problem is that their "Platforms" count for about half a rat's nut once the election is over. After that they're a bunch of lying commie panty waists. Concerned only with solidifying their own electoral power bases.

It's the "another life" we should strive to reclaim, BB. I cannot give up on my country, cannot become so jaded that I accept the status quo as being the fate we share for the rest of our nation's perilous life. I DO believe in hope and a future that looks far different that the present, and more like 'another life' when we could disagree, question the motives of certain politicians, but never did we largely believe that the entire governement was corrupt and beyond redemption, a fate we must accept, "The Way It Is", rather than "The Way We Were", and can - nay, must - be again, IF we intend to survive as a republic.

The biggest difference between a dem and a rep is.....
A dem. thinks life is like this-
YouTube - McDonald's: The Rap
a rep. thinks life is like this-
YouTube - Condi Rice Raps
This is why I would vote for.....the most unknown person on the ballot. You can't go much worst than we are currently heading.
