Saw this article (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23070857/) which lists "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going", "Ain't Too Proud to Beg", "Go Your Own Way", "Without You", and "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" as the best break-up songs.
There's a box at the bottom of the article where you can vote on some other songs, but they leave out some important ones.
Like "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt
...and "Quittin' Time" by Mary Chapin Carpenter
..."Now That It's Over" by Everclear
..."You Oughtta Know" by Alanis Morrisette
..."Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" by Led Zepplin
What are some of your "favorite" (if that's the right word) break-up songs?

Back in the early 90's when the love of my life dumped me that song "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette (it was in the movie Pretty Woman) was all over the radio. To this day, when I hear it, I want to vomit.

"You Oughta Know" is damn hard to beat. I remember that girl from Nickelodeon, so that song from her kinda scared me. But in a good way.
"Don't Go Away Mad" and "You're All I Need" by Motley Crue are great, but in their own individual ways. Hit YouTube for the "You're All I Need" video to see what I mean.
"My Immortal" by Evanescence is outstanding. Amy Lee's voice, plus some really inspired lyrics. Definitely one of the best.
Godsmack's self-titled debut album is more or less one big break up song. Actually, I think their first 3 albums were mainly about how screwed up the singer was over this female. There's a couple songs about heroin thrown in for good measure. But it's mostly about her.
Type O Negative's "Bloody Kisses" is about losing your loved one to suicide. Not sure if that's your cup o' joe, but it's pretty good.
Megadeth's "Almost Honest" and "Trust" are outstanding.
Black Sabbath's "Changes" is a classic. The version Ozzy did with Zakk Wylde on piano has made some big bad dude's shed a tear.
Kid Rock's "Midnight Train to Memphis" deserves mention.
Those come immediately to mind.

Phil Collins/Phillip Bailey's Easy Lover.
I played that on the jukebox after a gal I was dating dumped me, then walked into the same pizza parlor I was at with some new guy.
She got the message.

While it can mean other things to other people, I always got over heartache by playing this song over and over and yelling along with the lyrics:
Ruiner--NIN
you had all of them on your side, didn't you? didn't you?
you believed in all your lies, didn't you? didn't you?
the ruiner's got a lot to prove he's got nothing to lose and now he made you believe
the ruiner's your only friend well he's the living end to the cattle he deceives
the raping of the innocent you know the ruiner ruins everything he sees
now the only pure thing left in my ****ing world is wearing your disease
how did you get so big?
how did you get so strong?
how did it get so hard?
how did it get so long?
you had to give them all a sign, didn't you?
you had to covet what was mine, didn't you?
the ruiner's a collector he's an infector serving his shit to his flies
maybe there will come a day when those that you keep blind will suddenly realize
maybe it's a part of me you took to a place I hoped it would never go
and maybe that ****ed me up much more than you'll ever know
how did you get so big?
how did you get so strong?
how did it get so hard?
how did it get so long?
what you gave to me
my perfect ring of scars
you know I can see what you really are
you didn't hurt me nothing can hurt me
you didn't hurt me nothing can stop me now
