Hubby promised me we get them done early this year. Last year it was the end of October and we got our refund in November.

I'll believe it when I see it! But our home loan is dependent upon the tax return since he's commission paid. So it's gotta happen soon or I'll be unbearable to live with!

I've already done my taxes and got my refund back. BUT, I made a boo boo and forgot something so I have to file a correction. I forgot a little interest income. Wasn't much, but didn't even think about it until I got the thing from my bank. I have never done a correction so don't know how to do that.

So do ya'll do your own taxes or have someone do them for you??? I have used someone for years but I think I want to try to do mine myself this year. I dont claim anyone but myself and I dont have school or medical to claim either. Its pretty much just straight forward. What websites do ya'll use to do taxes, for those of you who do your own????

you can go to IRS.GOV.... It will direct you to a website that best fits you and your situation.

I use www.taxslayer.com (http://www.taxslayer.com). $9.95 to file fed and state and very easy to use. I've used it married and when I was single. Very simple to use.

I've filed mine, gotten my refund, and put the majority of it in savings (I'm sure it won't last...there's always something to eat it up).

I used turbo tax last year and the year before. This year work hooked us up with a free service to use.

We got ours done today. My husband goes to H&R Block because he knows a woman who works there and she's been doing his taxes for years. Before we got married I did mine myself online.

If you usually use H&R Block, you might want to try a CPA, world of difference. If the IRS does an audit don't count on H&R Block to be there to help, no matter what they say. CPA is the way to go, especially if you have a complicated return.

I did mine last night online for free and got the email to confirm today. I should get my refund the first of March. WOOH!!! cant wait to get a new windshield and put the rest in savings for that BIG car tag in Dec. At least this year I wont have to scrap and beg for money to pay for the tag.

I'm kinda tight with money and notice prices on everything.. You can tell a difference everywhere you go..

I remember back 10 years ago and thats not a long time ago.. I had 25,000 in w2's and I had more money in the bank than I do now almost doubling my income.

hendrixfreak70

I'm lucky work is only 2 miles from home.. It costs me 3.00 to drive to petal. Everytime my odometer turns over 20 miles its 3 dollars.. adds up quick. I remember driving to the coast quite often but now it costs 20-25 dollars just in gas.

Instead of the 600.00 rebate put gas a 1.50 a gallon and look at the money you would save plus it would drop everything else (food, clothing, services etc..)

How can you all be done already? We are still waiting for several statements from funds and other accounts. We are lucky if we get the return done by early April :smt086

I was all set to do mine when I discovered a 1099 with a BIG mistake. Glad I hadn't already filed; it's all on hold until the bank gets its act together.

I thought by law all of these had to be sent out by Jan 31?

Postmarked I think. They could likely wait until the 31st of Jan and it take like a month. I know that has happened to me before.

03-10-2008, 11:19 PM
I haven't filed my taxes yet, because the government thinks that the absurd amount I have already given them isn't enough. On a side note, if you are getting a return of more than $1000 you really should fill out a new W4 and correct your allowances. There is no sense in letting the feds borrow money interest free.

I've been instructed to get started this week. I HATE getting it all together.

Last year, we had to pay in. I have a feeling, it will be the same again this year. It really stinks to have SO much held out of your check to have to cough up severa thousand more.

Pinky, I feel your pain. I also "was instructed" to get them done by someone that's NEVER done taxes in his life! Non-doers don't realize you have to have a certain mindset to work on taxes.

Sent in mine, and mom's via TaxAct. Both will probably need to be redone because I made a WAG at a couple of things, but at least they're filed.
