I'm looking for a good optometrist.
I called around a few places today to ask about how much an exam was, and I must say, the people answering the phones must be sitting on chairs of nails, because they weren't the friendliest people I've ever spoken with. Some less than others.
I don't have eye insurance, so I'm looking for price and service.
I want to get contacts, again, and maybe a pair of glasses this time around, just for kicks. Mostly, b/c I have so much trouble with contacts, but my head is just too big for glasses to not make me look stupider than I look already.

20/20 eye exam is who I usually use on Hardy Street kind of across from CVS. I think they have a special right now where you get the exam and glasses for $99. Look in the IMPACT.......
Also, I don't know what kind of problems you are having with contacts but you may want to try switching to Focus Night and Day or Optima ones that are similar. I use to have a lot of trouble with mine, too, but these help keep your eyes from getting dry which really helps out a lot.

I use Mozingo and he's always been fair. I've gone in for a scratch and he only charged me $20. I don't have insurance for that either.
He's also the only one who ever seems to get my prescription right. I've been to lots of eye doctors and I usually end up w/ lenses that are too weak or too strong. Mozingo always gets it right.

I was a Jones with a guy going for his Optometry degree. He said there are several optomitists who will write you an incorrect prescription if you're going to get it filled outside of their shop.

Someone I work with likes him also. He said he was upfront with him about his income being not so great and the doc worked with him and he was well satisfied.

I've got my first appointment with Dr. Mozingo on the 26th. It was the first available when I called the other day. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have used Dr. Mozingo for years. He is wonderful and very helpful. I think his service fee is $59. which is very good for not having insurance.

My daughter used Dr. Mozingo until she had LASIK.
She was very happy with the contact lenses he prescribed for her. Never had a bit of problems with them.

I also use Ann Williams at the Optometry Clinic near First Baptist church of Hattiesburg. Been seeing her since I was in 2nd grade. She's great about making sure I get the contacts just perfect... anytime my prescription changes she gives me a free trial pair to wear for a week or so before ordering any so that we make sure it's what works best.

Dr. Marcev is the doctor that has his office next to Eye Mart. I really like him.
His office is in the same shopping center as Target.

I use Julie Lynn at the Hattiesburg clinic. She is really good and her partner, Dr Kirsch, is a wonderful pediatric optometrist.
I use the dept of motor vehicles. If they say I can see to drive, then i just use reading glasses from walgreens when I ain't driving,

I'm to the point of not being able to read things on a blackboard when I'm sitting on the front row... not good in school. I literally get up and walk up to the chalkboard to read the notes.

I have tried several due to insurance and always wind up going back to Mozingo. He is the only one that seems to get my prescription right. I like his political views also.
