This, and my heart beside –
This, and my heart, and all the fields –

Be sure you count – should I forget
Some one the sum could tell –
This, and my heart, and all the Bees
Which in the Clover dwell.

I wish I was a fish.
My dog eats from a dish.
The dish is always empty
Though my dog eats plenty.
I looked down at the drive thru and saw a penny.
I pulled up and got out.
The drive thru person started to shout
So I jerked him out thru the window and he started to pout.
Fish-Bait. :)

A box with ladybugs sits on my table,
The ladybugs ran off with my syrup, flavored maple.
Why did they commit this heinous act?
They had pancakes, but syrup they lacked.
A ladybug cannot buy syrup at the store,
They don't carry credit cards anymore.
Why did all their cards get taken away?
They maxed out their cards buying PB and J.

"I get up each morning and dust off my wits --
Open the paper and read the obits.
If I'm not there I know I'm not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed!"
-- verse of an old song
Love the Emily Dickinson, btw.

Thanks for another great thread ChiChi... here is one that I wrote last spring while I was on an oil exploration project... Fish-Bait, keep it up buddy, I need a good laugh!
I Want To Go Back To The Islands
I got a call Friday night to be on a Sunday flight
So now I’m in the arctic again…
It’s forty below with the darkness and snow
And seventy-two with the wind…
We are drilling for oil and we found a dry hole,
The Top-Drive is broken and the morale is low…
I stop and I wonder what am I doing here?
So cold and alone again…
Home is so far away and the snow stays through May
So I just dream of the places I’ve been…
And I want to go back to the islands,
Back to the Sun and the Sea…
Watching the sunset on Key Largo
And Feeling that warm Gulf Breeze...
Where the only thing white
Is the sparkling sand..
And the only cold that I feel
Is the drink in my hand…
Oh, I can’t wait to go where that blue water flows
Amidst the flowers and coconut trees -
Set sail underneath a moonlit sky
And head out to the Caribbean Sea...
I want to hear those steel drums Down on Duvall Street,
Stop by Jimmy Buffet’s and get something to eat…<O:p
I want to go down to Robbie’s on Islamorada
And get on that party boat…
If the fish are not biting, well that’s ok,
I’ll just soak up the sun and float…
I’ll spend the day casting my cares away
Then go back to the Sunset Inn…
Where I’ll wake up the next day around noon or so
And I’ll do it all over again…
Oh, I want to go back to the islands,
Back to the Sun and the Sea…
Watching the sunset on Key Largo
And Feeling that warm Gulf Breeze...
Where the only thing white
Is the sparkling sand...
And the only cold that I feel
Is the drink in my hand…
I can’t wait to go where that blue water flows
Amidst the flowers and coconut trees…
I want to go back to the islands
And do whatever I please…<O:p

I have pretty young eyes, and even though I've got my glasses on, with the font color and size, I can't read that Baloo.

Good thread chi-chi. I enjoy writing when I am in a down mood. Here is a poem I wrote on September 1, 2001. I really believed we would be able to take care of these people that quickly-HA! Here goes:
You have destroyed a piece of our country and yes, we have tears in our eyes,
As you are watching you will see we are strong, and our eagle still flies.
You can not destroy US, we as "americans" will always be strong,
you have hurt us deeply and even God knows you were wrong.
You have not divided us, what you have done is made us truly unite,
we are a country who stands strong and will finish this fight.
In the end you shall see "Old Glory" will still proudly wave,
That is why I believe you will get what you gave!
GOOD LUCK!
I was very upset that morning when I wrote this, but now I wish we hadn't acted on it like we did because of the american lives that have been lost over there. Another case of danged if you do, danged if you don't.
