I apologize for this being completely OFF TOPIC...but I am trying to find out the name of a Jewelry store that was in Hattiesburg over 30 years ago.
It carried a designer diamond ring called Heirloom, Heritage...something like that.
If this rings a bell with anyone, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a wedding set from there and have been racking my brains to remember who the designer was.
Thanks so much...
Do you remember where the store was located?

Sadly I do not. I know that it was not a "chain" jewelry store. It was not a Zales, Kays, a Wilson's or anything like that.
I do remember that it was a small store. Single door with two large display windows was the store front.
It would have been 1975. It is where my first wedding set was purchased.
Back when the Stone Toad was still running and the Wagon Wheel wasn't a Video store.;)
I don't think it was at the old mall. I am thinking the store front opened to a parking lot. I almost wanted to say Keepsake...but I don't know if that is just because Walmart and other stores have started using that phrase.
Thanks for anyone who was around at that time and may remember.
Thanks for starting a thread. The system would not allow me to do that!!

There use to be a store called the Diamond Shop ,it was on Main Street , I think there were 3 jewelry stores downtown.why back then. Paris Jewelry ,was once down town across from the Post Office. And a store also on main street next to the lawyers offices now little way down for the courthouse, But I can't remember it's name.Sorry
In 'old downtown' it could have been:
Diamond Shop - near the old Love Drug on Main Street
Rodger's Jewelers - near the old court house on Main Street
There was a Sarphie's Jewelers somewhere but I forget the location.
There was a Paris Jewelers. I forget the original location but they relocated just south and behind Shoney's and are still in business.

The last Sarphie's Jewelry location was the building on Hardy Street now occupied by the USM Federal Credit Union.
My husband bought me a diamond and ruby ring from Sarphie's, and I remember us going to that location to purchase it, sometime in the late 1980s.
In 1975, Sarphie's was still downtown.
In 1975, Sarphie's was still downtown.I'm kinda wantin' to remember it was right next door to the Diamond Shop.

I am assuming The Diamond Shop is no more????I don't think so.
I can't remember the fellow's name that was the manager.
The last time I saw him he was managing the jewelery counter at the pawn shop across US49 from FGH.
The Diamond Shop reincarnated across from Lake Byron for a short time but it didn't last long.

Tal's Dart Bar - or something like that. I think it's where the old Library Lounge used to be.

The Diamond Shop had the last of their inventory sold at an auction at the Lake Terrace Convention Center in 1998. DH bought me 2 really nice diamond rings at that auction. It was held on October 31, 1998 because I remember it being on Halloween. Mr. Dillard was the name of the manager when the Diamond Shop was located in the Cloverleaf Mall. I worked there briefly in 1978.

I hate to hear that. We had a lot of fun being young and stupid while I was a student at USM. I met my first husband in Hattiesburg (which is why the ring was purchased there). He was an aircraft mechanic at the FOB at the airport.

Yes, I have seen that when we stopped at Stuckey's to buy gas the last time we were through Hattiesburg. My husband is from the Ms Coast, so we have traveled through Hattiesburg many times over the years.

Thanks to you wonderful folks...I now have all the info I need on my wedding set.
It was purchased at The Diamond Shop. It is an Orange Blossom setting called Moonwind which was very popular back in the day. It was even advertised in Seventeen magazine (which was big stuff back then!!)
This history will be very helpful in getting a proper appraisal.
Thanks again!!

We bought our rings at Rolling's Jewelry downtown, which was also down the street from the Diamond Shop. Those were the days!
