Big kitty lived a long life.
My family and I always enjoyed visiting the tiger exhibit.
At least he isn't suffering, and he left behind his daughter, Tigger.
(I'm sure "daughter" isn't the correct term, but you know what I mean.)

That's sad. I feel sorry for the other tiger as well. What a lonely life it must be.

I will miss seeing the two tigers playing together at the zoo... They are such beautiful and magnificent animals...

Oh my gosh...this kind of stuff just tears me up....I'm trying really hard not to cry right now. This is the first I'd heard about this.
I love the zoo animals so much.
I am happy that he's not suffering anymore and that he lived a long life. He will be missed a lot. I hope they get another one.

that is sad. I read the article and it said that he would "mark" visitors. My family has been a victim of this. It was kinda gross and made my son not get close to the corner of the cage to look in. I was just there a few weeks ago, and they both looked pretty lazy- I guess the big guy was not feelinig good. It is going to be lonely for the other tiger, I know they want to do the asia exhibit, but that tiger is used to having a friend.

I enjoyed taking my eldest grandster to see the tigers at the Hattiesburg zoo as he enjoyed seeing them It made me sad, though, to see the paths that the tigers wore around the perimeter of their encagement....I always felt sorry for them. I think if Hattiesburg wants to keep animals like tigers, they should provide a better place for them.

I never thought the tigers looked happy or very energetic.

I have very mixed feelings when it comes to zoos. While I enjoy the opportunity to see animals from around the world I realize that they are hardly ever kept the way nature intended and many are suffering. I understand that most zoo animals are born in captivity and don't know anything else but it's still sad.
