I have not heard a thing lately about the city hall break-in that happened quite a while back. :smt102 I thought other agencies were going to be involved in helping out with this. What happened to them? :smt102 This was an awful serious matter to be able to cover it up like they have done. Is there anyone to contact besides Hattiesburg administration to ask about this? It seems like the new chief would have made this his first priority instead of trying to fix what wasn't broke (net team). :ohnoes: I know this same thread was started a while back but unless someone keeps bringing it up, it will be forgotten, just as I believe some want it to be. I WON'T FORGET! No one should forget this or let it die down until the case is solved and the culprits and all others involved are jailed. Is the mayor and chiefs info in these tapes that were taken too? If so, wouldn't you think the mayor would REALLY be wanting the criminals to be caught knowing his high falutin' finances may become involved if his social security number was in the city computers too? Something still don't seem right with that whole scene and how it went down.

Thank you XC9 for the reminder and for bringing the story back to life. It was a very serious crime. I personally think that it was an inside job and I am very surprised that nothing has been done about it yet! I wish that the Feds would step in and take over on this one...

Now more than ever, Vote ID needs to be passed into law in Mississippi. With the voting roles of Hattiesburg outdated, and also the same voter roles in the hands of a master minded criminal, any fair future election in Hattiesburg can never be held.

Why else would the hard drives be so important? But, to control the power base within the city.

There will never be an answer to THE WHO DONE IT QUESTION. Everyone already knows it was an inside job, and the drives were removed by an employee.

Absentee balets are a large key to stealing an election. When the roles are not purged of deceased voters, or purged of people who move, election fraud is elevated to a higher level. In Hattiesburg, we have a large problem in the City Clerks office.

In Hattiesburg, the one vote per person rule dosen't apply. Well not to the opposition.

While we are asking questions: What happend to the 100 pounds of pot found in a local church?

I agree as a Poll Worker with you! I know fraud exists and nothing is done about it. I have a feeling the NEW admin will change the way in which things are handled.Well,at least I hope so.

It is very much a reality thrillseeker. This happened several years ago when our law enforcement officers found 100 pounds of pot in the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. The officers were told that the pot mysteriously appeared in the church, which is run by the one and only Kenneth Fairley himself. No arrests were ever made. :smt102

If you're referring to this incident, (http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v03/n480/a04.html) it wasn't 100 pounds; it was a bag. It also wasn't found at the church, but brought to the church by a parishioner.

$100,000 worth...would have been a LARGE bag.

$100,000 worth...would have been a LARGE bag.

At $2000 to $4000 per pound, the bag would weigh anywhere from 25 to 50 pounds.

However, law enforcement didn't find the bag at the church, and it wasn't 100 pounds. Let's get the story right if we're going to talk about it.

I think that's what we're working on. Someone said it was 100 pounds, you said no, it was a bag. When someone thinks of a bag of marijuana, they think of an ounce bag. For the value to be $100,000, as stated in the article you quoted, it would have to be a large bag. :smt102

$100,000 worth...would have been a LARGE bag.Doing just a little bit of 'net research shows that pot costs about $1000/lb. in this area, so if the people/person who did the estimating used that figure, then it would have been about 100 pounds.

The Hattiesburg Police Department's handling of a case involving 60 pounds of marijuana, which was removed by city police on Feb. 24 from the Life Center at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, has raised two critical questions - questions that need to be answered. Did the police department handle the case properly? Why did the department wait nearly six weeks to inform the public about the incident - and then, only after the media began asking direct questions about the matter?

Since I misquoted the amount of pot found, I searched the HA, and found the above:
