In his letter, Mr. Browne says that "to be factual, the CAO salary will not cover very many pay periods for the firefighters, if any."

If the CAO position is budgeted for $70,000 (a little low, but using round numbers here), then the $70,000 could be transferred to the fire department personnel budget.

The money would remain in the fire department personnel budget year after year, unless cut by the City Council or redirected to another city budget.

In other words, the CAO salary could be used to cover "very many pay periods for the firefighters."

So true Kitty, not sure what the city is looking at... heard rumors, but IF they were to give a 5 grand across the board that would take care of 14 men!

Factor in the CAO car....gas... and all the travel it did and there is even more $$$$.

The funds for those CAO expense items could be redirected to the fire department budget to help cover equipment and training costs.

Equipment and training that may help save property, and lives...now that is a "cause or agenda" everyone should support.
