I needed to get some fluids changed in my car the other day, so I headed over to a name brand service shop on Route 98 and they refused to do a coolant flush, oil change, and differential fluid change using the stuff I brought with me. I purchased some off the shelf unopened bottles of 10w30 Mobile 1 oil, Mobile 1 fuel filter, Valvoline hypoid 80w90 gear oil, and Prestone Antifreeze. These are things that I know I want in my car, not recycled crap. The chain store wanted to charge me $250+ for doing these simple fluid changes, using only their fluids. I couldn't help but laugh out loud, as I left the place.
A friend recommended to me Phillips Car Care instead. I took my there on 80 Rawls Springs Loop Rd and they not only took care of everything I asked, but they also looked up a service bulletin on the differential fluid and found out that despite what the service manual states, the car actually takes 25oz of gear oil instead of the listed 32oz. Basically they went the extra distance even for a simple fluid service and are a top notch place to go to for auto service. Using the materials I supplied them with, they charged me $18 for the oil, $30 for the flush, and $12 for the differential service.
Phillips Car Care Center gets my vote. :smt023
