Crowd @ the Sports Rock tonight??

I noticed that the businesses across from & beside the Sports Rock (or whatever it's called now) have roped off their parking lots. I'm up here late from time to time (and will be tonight) & I thought the Sports Rock was closed, or doing very little business because I hardly ever see anyone over there. But, it seems like the adjoining businesses are bracing for a crowd. Anybody know what, if anything, is up?

From what I understand someone has either bought the previous owner out OR the owner is renting it on a weekend or week to week basis ... ??? ...

I think it got re-modeled. I've heard commercials on the radio lately about the "new and improved VIP" and it being unveiled this weekend or tonight or something. Not too sure though.

I don't know and I am not too concerned as I value my life so I stay out of that part of town after 5pm.

They have always either roped off parking or towed cars if you parked there. My friend got her car towed. Sports Rock really can't compete anymore with Bottling Co., Hunt Club, or Zodiac. It went downhill a couple of years ago back when I actually still went out.

man....when SRock first opened it was the shiznit. you could go up there and watch football and drink beer and eat chicken wings and have hot chicks wait on you. There was even a t.v. at the table....haven't been in prolly 2 years though.

he (the owner) stopped doing that though back in 03-04 ish ... maybe??? and went straight dance up until here recentally ... from what i gather from some friends that went not to long ago ... it's all hip-hop now and the DJ booth is now where the old VIP room was (upstairs) and they have a deck-type thing out back in side the fence for thier smokers and such ... i hope it goes well for whoever is owning/renting it ... that poor building has been through so many owners and names and venues it's crazy ... i hope they find a niche that works for them :-D

sports rock / whatever it was called before that was the defintion of a crappy slung together club...everything in there was done on the cheap

i mean its concrete floors...cheap alien themed carpet in a metal building...i mean wtf? but they kept on keeping on

then a few places come in town and make their business nice and people go there...why? cause its nice

so the people who own sports rock say 'omg people are going to the nice place because they actually have options now and are going somewhere that didnt put this together as cheap as possible...lets actually invest a little in our building'

ill not go there for the same reason i wont go to big buck... competition forced them to do the right thing they should have done from the start.... as a result...ill go to their competition

I remember when that club was the Silver Saddle. I went inside once to remove my inebriated, 15 yr old cousin, and nearly got my ass kicked by a couple of gap tooth cowboy hats who insisted the "lady" was with them.

i think it was club gemini before then ... and you're right King ... it was and still is a crap hole ... BUT ... the way the owner thought back then is that the very patrons that wanted something "nice" were the ones who destroyed it to begin with ... hense one of the reasons it went from what it started out as to what it is now ... have you ever worked a club??? it's nasty. (period) ... ropers, the old coconuts, etc ... clean up at the end of the night would make even a stout stomach turn on point. drunks are drunks and they treat everything like crap, they don't have any respect for the staff, much less the actual establishment and so on and so forth ... for the most part they are there to get drunk first and get laid second ... sometimes right in the middle of the dance floor ... i could go on and on about the "horror stories" i could tell ... but, i won't ... and if my newest avatar offends, please, no jabs ... just let me know and i'll take it down asap ...

yes clubs are nasty...but ya know im a decently traveled guy and ive been to plenty clubs....you know what seems to set it all apart?

security....

other clubs in other areas seem to have plenty of security in various areas in order to deter people acting like a fool...

Very right about the clubs/bars being nasty! I love ropers but I worked there at one time and trust me you could not pay me enough to clean the bathroom! they asked me to un-stop a toilet and I told them I would quit if I had to! I now have a saying that if Ropers did not kill me after cleaning out ash trays, nasty tables and floors then nothing will kill me! That is why tips are always nice when you are out because you have no clue what those girls do for you like: find your phones in a puddle of beer, license, money, keys, pick your butt up when you fall on it, talk you out of drinking and driving, tell you how special you are and that you don't need him/her. I could go on and on.

Wasn't it Mustangs in the 90's? I celebrated a birthday there, my cuz's band was playing there at the time...It was alot of fun, but I think every one was into line dancing in the era...:confused:
