Why do some of the most talented musicians in the world see the need to accidently kill themselves with drugs? Stevie Ray Vaughn is one of my fav. musicians and if I'm not mistaken, didn't he overdose on Cocaine or Heroine? At any rate he is DEAD and I can only imagine what kinds of contributions he would have been able to make to the music world today had he not croaked at such an early age.

He died in a helicopter crash. Almost was Eric Clapton.

Jimi, Janis (?), Morrison (not talented musically to me), and a whole lot of newer musicians died of drugs.

Almost was what? S.R.V. died in a heli. crash or what are you saying? I have been told for years he died of an overdose...

Neah, SRV died in a helicopter crash in the early 90s. He took the seat from Eric Clapton. So it likely could have been Eric Clapton.

I like S.R.V.'s music. My students like it to. I play it sometimes at low volume just for background music. They actually pay attention and act better when it is on. S.R. could make a guitar almost "talk" the way he worked on those strings.:smt023

Was he high when this happened?

He probably was. I think it was pilot error though. He was known to snort coke and drink whiskey. The norm probably. I love SRV. I am like you he could make the guitar sing. Also obviously I am a Jimi fan too. :)
