Can't wait to get my hands on one (or five) (http://www.portfolio.com/views/blogs/mixed-media/2008/03/06/si-to-publish-special-brett-favre-issue)
Brett Favre is packing it in -- but not before Sports Illustrated gets one more newsstand bump out of him. On Monday, SI will publish a newsstand-only commemorative issue celebrating the Green Bay quarterback's career, according to a Time Inc. source.

I'm already sick of hearing about this guy.
This much pub for the league's biggest choker? Shame.

I'm not much of a Favre fan, but I'm gonna try to pick one up for Walter. He is a MAJOR sports fan and I'm sure this is something he'll enjoy when he's older.

Yeah, an entire issue on the league's biggest choker. That makes PERFECT sense. :smt009

Funny I never saw a Terry Bradshaw or Roger Staubach, or any other famous Football player, only issue of Sports Illustrated. What makes him so special?

As I've stated, I'm no Favre fan, but this guy was an awesome player and deserves every bit of the respect and attention he's gotten (as far as football is concerned). As far as his personal life, I think perhaps he has really matured and gotten away from the habits of the past that have caused people to criticize him. :smt023
Throwing an interception is not choking. :smt001 I've yet to see a quarter back that didn't throw one from time to time, even in a very important game/situation.

Google results for Terry Bradshaw - 840,000
Google results for Roger Staubach - 341,000
Google results for Brett Favre - 3,150,000

You ask why? I could tell you why I think he deserves it, but lets just go with the facts for now.
Sports Illustrated honored Favre as its Sportsman of the Year in December, and that became the first Sports Illustrated magazine ever to go back for a third printing. 3,350,000 copies were eventually printed.
Hmmmm....

The way he played the game makes him so special. He owns the records that are most likely not going to be broken in his lifetime, probably ours either. He is arguably the best quarterback to ever play the game. The only one that I think could give him competition in that department would be Joe Montana. I implore you to find someone with the following statistics. He is the ONLY 3-time NFL MVP. He went to two Super Bowls, won one of them. He was selected for 9 Pro Bowls. He never missed a game due to injury. These are the reasons for the all-Favre issue.

Throwing INTs on potentially game winning drives time after time after time is choking.
Not only does he throw a lot of picks, he looks like he's doing it on purpose. Of course, he's not. But you can't just lob the ball up and hope for the best. Yet he does it time and again.
He's a defense's best friend. When the pressure is on, Favre chokes. That's just the plain and simple truth.
Mike Holmgren kept that side of him pretty much in check. Once he left, it was all downhill for Favre Almighty.

Favre is on the cover of ANOTHER issue of Sports Illustrated. (http://www.wbay.com/Global/story.asp?S=8005273)
Brett Favre is yet again gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine.
The future Hall of Famer is featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated's regular issue this week.
Just this past Monday, a special edition of Sports Illustrated paying tribute to Favre's career hit newsstands.
The latest SI magazine is scheduled to hit stands Thursday. It features a closeup shot of Favre with a tear running down his cheek and the phrase "Hard to Say Good-bye"
This is the ninth time Favre has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Counting the special edition, it's the fourth Favre cover of SI since December.
