Paul Ends His Campaign (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/07/AR2008030703061.html)
...Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton confirmed that the video means the candidate recognizes he will not be the nominee.
"Winding down" is how Benton described the next phase of the campaign. "Dr. Paul acknowledges that he will not be the nominee but will continue to travel to address supporters and encourage grass-roots activism to influence the process and return the Republican Party to its traditions of limited government and personal freedom," Benton said.
So, what's this next phase going to look like? A book tour, of course. Paul tells supporters in his video that the message of liberty that suffused his bid for president will soon be available for study at home. "A more detailed outline of this message has now been put into book form, titled 'The Revolution: A Manifesto,' and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com," he said.
Paul also noted that he will continue to raise money -- something he did better than just about any other Republican during the past year -- for his political action committee and his educational nonprofit, the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education (FREE)....

Nice. Paul's got a nice little nest egg from all those donations. He's a millionaire now. Must be nice.

I particularly like that part about the political action committee. He won't talk to them, won't accept money from them, but he's starting one of his own.

Ron Paul snookered them ALL!!!
Will someone explain what he's doing with the political action committee?
And don't they have to use their campaign donations in a certain way? Can he just take that cash and buy a house with it? I didn't give him any money, but that'd still piss me off.

Whatever the political action committee does, he won't know about it... if past performance is any indication of future behavior.

There were a lot of things that Paul stood for that I also believed. But I still would never vote for him because I thought he was a shyster and a nut. I wish there was someone who was a little more reputable that believed some of those things so that I could vote for them. There was some who believed in the principles of his platform, but ended up worshiping the guy.

Me too. One can hardly call a Libertarian a conservative. They have a lot of conservatism in them but then they go too far and become liberal in a lot of ways.

Some of us simply love what the man stands for:FREEDOM! He`s no shyster and he wasn`t running for wealth. All true Conservatives should be able to be Republicans AND Libertarians. Both purport to believe in smaller, less-intrusive government, strong defense, and free markets. Most of the things that Republicans differ with Libertarians on are recent additions to the Republican Party that are not traditional Republican tenets. Read that as NEO-CON Global Imperialist additions. Thank GOD he is starting a PAC! His having nothing to do with them in the past had nothing to do with them being evil, and everything to do with wanting to remain free of their political influence in order to better represent his people. His forming one now to influence other less noble politicians is wonderful news and will be good for this country! It is NOT hypocritical or proof of some character flaw on his part. America needs a teacher like Ron Paul to remind us of our past and steer us toward a brighter future. I worship GOD. I do not worship Ron Paul. But, I do love his message! He`s still head and shoulders over all the other candidates who ran against him, in my humble opinion. AND, just because I refuse to vote for the others, I still plan to vote for him.

Never thought I'd say these words, but I'm voting for Hillary day after tomorrow. McCain's got the nomination on the Rep. side. I don't want Obama to get it on the Dem side.

Wow... it's gonna take me a few days to wrap my head around that one.

To clarify my post, there are a lot of things that he stood for that I believed, but there are also a lot of things that he stood for that I wanted no part of. I'm also not aware of those imperialist republicans. Not sure what additional states have been added or what new territories are now part of the US.

He probably could but if he does what he has done in the 14th District in Texas he'll give as much money as he has in the account back when it is totally over. Of course the 14th District is not as large as the United States and I think he had like 200,000 donors or more so it may be hard to do it all quickly. At least he did that in Texas, now rather he does it here or not remains to be seen.
