Join the Honorable Senator Trent Lott this Thursday to celebrate and recongize R. Philip Hanes for his lifetime of leadership innovation.

R. Philip Hanes, entrepreneur, philanthropist, author, arts patron and community leader will receive the Trent Lott National Center of Excellence for Economic Development & Entrepreneurship's Innovation Award. The award celebrates Mr. Hanes' highly successful and innovative contribution to the economic development of downtown Winston-Salem.

Mr. Hanes earned a reputation as a business leader through his achievements growing the Hanes Companies. His innovative leadership style is recounted in his book "How to Get Anyone to do Anything"

Throughout his lifetime, Mr. Hanes has positioned arts and culture at the forefront of economic revitalization efforts. At age 82, he has an unmatched ability to convince even the strongest critic of the immense importance of art, culture and entrepreneurship in downtown revitalization efforts.

His visit is focused on the impact of locally-owned small-businesses and the growth and development of artists' communities in downtown Hattiesburg.
