No doubt. Endless wars, printing money out of thin air, government bail-outs, spying, restrictions on liberty, weakening dollar, and blah blah blah. But hey, this is Amuricca. We must stay the course. Cause sumbody said so.

But beware if you say that in public. I don't know how many times I have heard "This is the greatest country in the world. Love it or leave it" :smt105

I'm one of those, within reason. Dissent is one thing, but at the expense of my rights and beliefs is altogether another. I think, for example, if you want to denounce your citizenship, rather than go through the legal rigamarole, just put a match to the American flag. That is your freedom of speech to say "Screw America, I denounce my citizenship." But, that's just me.

Yup, I used to be one. You're 'unpatriotic' if you question the course of 'your' country. How dare you? You're a 'liberal' a 'commie', or a 'right-wing zealot'. You hate America, you hate Bush.

The only thing that is not relative in my eyes is morality. Now, that may make the atheists mad but its my belief.

Don't forget terrorist-loving, Kool-Aid drinking liberal to the list. :ohnoes: I heard a report on the news the other night that suggested that America's reputation was improving overseas. Why? Because Bush's term is about to end. :smt105

I agree with your rights but your beliefs? If you believe that everything is okeydokey I am not allowed to criticize anything? Or do you mean religious beliefs ( which I would group under "rights" ) ?

I consider myself a Founding Father Conservative but what you 'libs' talk about as far as questioning the antics of the current administration and the results is spot-on. I gave Clinton hell when he was in office and I will guarantee you that every 'conservative' in this forum did the same thing. Why is it ok to question one's way of thinking and when the other way of thinking is interjected it is called names?

To question your country is not, in and of itself, unpatriotic. That word is bandied about like "racist."

I give every President hell if it is warranted. I was one of the first that would have liked to slap Clinton right up side the head on more than one occasion. Would love the opportunity to do so to the current President, and more than likely the next. I'm not above pointing out faults with any of them - after all they are politicians first and foremost and are totally out of touch with mainstream America.
Like you, I would love to discuss problems with administrative actions - I believe we have that fundamental right to question our leaders - it's when name calling by others for not touting their beliefs is where I get very hot under the collar. I'm by no means a liberal. I'm a moderate in every sense, even conservative to some degrees, but let me discuss Bush's actions/inactions and I'm immediately touted to be a liberal and Clinton and his BJ immediately enters into the discussion.
It's a defensive posture to those who can't defend their position, and I've long since figured that out on here. So, I just read, giggle at most, and throw in my two-bits on ocassion. Regardless, I'll vote my way - someone else will vote theirs, but if someone doesn't vote at all - then I say they should STFU.
Sorry, haven't rambled in a while and felt the overwhelming urge all of a sudden. :kekeke:

America, America God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy hood with brotherhood.
Greed, Deception and lies are not what made this country, they are what is destroying it.
Certain entities are working to do away with Constitutional Law little by little.
They will never do away with the Laws that a certain Omnipotent Creator passed down to Moses lobg long ago. The Supreme Judge is still in session!

I think when you run up to slap the President up side his/her head, you should also bring him/her a chocolate revolver, because I be that's one thing the President doesn't have enough of... chocolate shaped like firearms.

Why would that make an atheist mad? Atheists have morals, morals not predicated by a fear of punishment.
Still, beside that point, morality is no more than a series of evolved behaviors maintained to encourage reciprocal altruistic behavior. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reciprocal_altruism) Right and wrong are indeed relative not only from culture to culture, but situation to situation.
As far as the country goes - oh yeah, its been headed in the wrong direction for a long time. It just took a stupendously shitty administration and the advent of the Internet to get everyone to pay attention.
On patriotism:

Perception, then is relative. Hmmm. But perception is relativism. In civil society murder is wrong. No ambiguity there. But I know what you are saying.

Why do we care what most Americans think?
It seems if people agree with a poll, they hold it as evidence... if they disagree, they say it's bogus.
All polls are bogus.
