I'm parking the car. Screw it. $3.29 for gasoline? Whatever, guys.

I have to use the car for school on Mon and Wed, as I have to drop my son off at school and make an 8am class, but for the other days, I don't have to be at school until 10am, so, I'm going to ride the bicycle. Even if it kills me the first few times.

I hope others of you, who are able, will make a similar decision and take some alternative transportation a few times a month. It doesn't take nearly as long to walk/ride as you think it might. And you'll feel good for doing something different.

If you see me, I'll be the large guy with the green highway workers type vest on for viability. Give me about 3' when you pass me.

I need some forced exercise, and it's nice out, so I'm going to do this for a bit.

I'm always careful, it's the other 'cagers' on the road I gotta watch out for.

Public transportation could probably help out some too.

Gas will have to be made illegal before I stop driving my car. But I don't go to the post office everyday now and we eat at home a lot more often. And I have deleted some of the unnecessary stuff. If you see me on the bike riding in town please know I have lost my mind and am going to get some kind of liquor to drink because gas has become illegal. Oh and please give me at least 6 feet of room, because my BB gun don't shoot that far and I might be carrying it.

It is crazy! The prices go up and down every other day. Saw earlier the General Store on 42 had it for 3.11.

I cannot do without the car as much as I'd like to. The kids need to go to school and I am the schoolbus - although they would probably volunteer to stay home " to save the environment" :smt105 . Then there is soccer practice, tae kwon do practice, extracurricular events...it just never ends. I'd give a lot for decent, safe public transportation system.

I have to drive 10 miles to work. No way am I attempting to walk or ride that, but if I were not pregnant I might ride my motorcycle. Then again, it probably doesn't get much better mileage than my Sentra. 30 mpg in the city.

A Sentra does pretty good. My father is trying to sell one that gets around 38 mpg for only $1400 and he hasn't had a lot of takers which is weird, with the price of gas being what it is. I drive only a short distance before I get to my work vehicle or I would consider buying it. I've thought about motorcycles but a bicycle is out of the question. If it weren't for my work vehicle and it being parked close by, I would have a 25 mile ride to work one way.

My van gets pretty good gas milage, but as my kids have gotten older(1 driving) we're looking at getting me something else. I can assure you I will be looking for something that gets good gas milage!

I have to drive 10 miles to work.

10 miles really isn't THAT far on bike. Easily doable in an hour once you get conditioned.

My best time from USM to home was 45 minutes last year. That was at over 350lbs and right at 7 miles one way.

Although it would be great for me to ride my bike or motorcycle to work it isn't feasible due to all the equipment that I must have on hand. However, I do ride my bike on the weekends to run small errands when possible.

I drive from Trace Road north of Laurel ( exactly 2 miles from my house to the Sharon/Sandersville exit 104 on I-59 ) to Hattiesburg for work every day. I drive a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero sport that gets 16 mpg on the interstate. $25 a day in gas.

I have had a fear of motorcycles since I had a wreck on one when I was 10 or 11, I may be about to give them a shot. This gas stuff is RIDICULOUS!

You could always ditch the gas guzzler and get a civic that gets twice the mileage.

I ride my motorcycle to work when the weather's good. It gets 70 mpg. I have about a 56 mile round trip to Laurel and back every day.

I am not paying another car note. My truck will be paid off in 3 months. A motorcycle note will run me half of what a car note would. Half of that would be paid by the savings in gas a month.

There must be something seriously wrong with that car if its not selling.

They got the hook up with Pine Belt Oil and I am not totally sure if the whole "business" is owned by them or if they own a part or if they just use it as a fuel depot of sorts... but they can always be a little cheaper than the others around here if they choose cause a lot of the others get their gas/diesel from Pine Belt Oil.

Either that or they do what some gas stations in Jackson do and add water to the tank. My dad builds gas stations for a living and some stations in Jackson had over 2ft of water in the tank. There are also a few on 98 that are the same way. I will have to call and ask him about Petal.

I'm confused...demand is down, but prices are up as a result?

http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/06/news/economy/_prices/index.htm?postversion=2008040615

Lundberg blamed the increased prices on higher crude oil and ethanol prices at a time of weak gasoline demand. The government has mandated retailers to sell a higher percentage of ethanol, and Lundberg said she does not expect the prices of crude oil and ethanol to go down any time soon.
Also, while demand for gasoline has increased during the longer days of spring, Lundberg said drivers are using less gasoline this year compared to the same time last year.
"This is a key reason why I expect prices to jump from here," Lundberg said.

I used to ride the motorcycle to work everyday. Have to drop junior off at day care 4 days a week right now so that's out.
