Anyone know if there are any upcoming events? There's something on their website but it doesn't say when. Other than that, all it says is grudge racing at 4 every Sunday, but the last two times we went out there, only a few people showed up to race and it wasn't worth the ten bucks to get in.

Most of the crowds come on Friday nights, from what I've seen over the past 2-3 years.

There's a group driving over from Mobile today to Hub City. At least one guy is bringing a low 10-second Civic, and hopefully others are running their cars as well. Should be fun.

I used to bracket race out there during the late '90s-early '00s.

The new style 'street-grudge' racing don't crank my tractor, so to speak, so I have'nt been there in years. I do, however, have friends that still go out there, and from what I understand it's getting harder and harder to get spectators to any kind of event nowadays.

You can get a better idea of upcoming events by visiting one of these forums:

(Search this forum for Hub City and it'll bring up some events)

Of course with the cost of fuel these days pretty soon we'll be only seeing hybrid cars drag racing.

I can't imagine what race fuel must cost these days. :smt118

Back in the mid-late '90s. we used VP C-12 fuel from R&S Automotive, it was $5 a gallon. Most of the time I burned less than 5 gallons a night.

Around 2001, it went up to $8, and last I heard it was around $12/gallon. I started using methanol (you burn 1 1/2 times methanol than gas, and use a different fuel pump and carb) and it was less than $100/50 gallon drum...it's $185/drum now..

If ya want to check on the racing scene around here, you can try these two sites: www.hubcitydragway.com (http://www.hubcitydragway.com) or www.torqueaddicts.net (http://www.torqueaddicts.net). I think you'll find them informative.
