Where is the Broadacres shopping center? I know there is a bingo place and a flea market where the old Broadacres theater use to be.

I wonder if its the same bingo place that has been there for a little while.
Hendrix and i went there one night and when we opened the door, it was dark and this old man in overalls was sitting out in the middle of the room. He said something but we couldnt understand him and we left, quickly.

it's a just for feet store- the same store that you find in malls-

it's just small in the old radio shack location. i saw it there about a month ago. couldn't believe that stuck a large national chain store in that hole-

I think it is actually an Athlete's Foot, not Just For Feet. Supposedly it is the largest athletic shoe store chain in the world, but I rarely see them anymore.

I'm not sure if this is cool, but I can't post yet because I haven't posted enough yet to get regular status. However, I do have a question. I noticed one day someone had curbside recycling in town, and I can't seem to find anything online about it. I take stuff to the recycling center at Kamper Park, but it would be even better and I could probably keep more items if there was pick-up. Anyone know about it?

Rod I am not for sure but I "think" it is called Hburg Recycling. I will try to watch for their van to pass by and check the name again. IF it is any different I will let you know. You could also call the HA..they had an article on the company a few weeks back. I am sure they could look it up and give you a person name..

The new bingo parlor is a fundraising venture started by The Meistersingers. The longtime Hattiesburg concert group recently did a performance that topped $40,000 in expenses and are looking for a steady source of revenue to fund future equally ambitious endeavors.

I've always looked at bingo halls as the legal loophole for local gambling as long as there was some charitable organization attached. There have been times when the "overhead" which is paid out of the proceeds provided pretty lucrative salaries for the operators.

This will be different. I spoke with Meistersingers director Paul Lee and he has great plans to use the proceeds to enhance the already significant musical offerings to this area and to eventually start a youth Meistersingers group. This would give talented young singers a venue similar in quality to what the Lion's Band program does for band students but would be year round.
