I saw today where the Old Office Max building is being turned into a Win Employment Service. Just wonder if they plan to close the other Win off of 40the avenue. Myself I was hopeing for some kind of really nice store. But you can't always get what you were hopeing or wishing for.:smt001

Wonderful. Another prime piece of real estate taken off the property tax rolls.

I'm disappointed. I was hoping for something like a hardware or garden store, or a nice restaurant.

How much property tax does WIN pay? If they are renting, the owner pays it and has been paying it. Not to mention taxes pay for WIN and the rent.

For people that live on the east side of HWY 49 get jipped all the time. We want stores we can shop in. It the west side keeps going west we will be almost shopping in Columbia.

I'm a bit disappointed by this too. I had all these ideas shemed up in my head of what it could be and I have to say a WIN center never crossed my mind.

I don't go out even as far as the mall if I can help it. I buy everything online or at Steinmart.

The location change would be a good benefit for those looking for jobs. Closer to the center of Hattiesburg. Less traffic, and 40th ave has a lot of traffic.

Do those WIN places actually assist people in getting jobs? From my experience, they seem setup more to give the people who work there permanent employment.

Yeah the WIN does work. The WIN only works if employers notify them of there need of employees. A lot of the jobs that are available are maybe contract, construction, off-shore,ori other industrial ventures. The reason for the move to my knowledge is because the WIN wanted to do some remodling and since they don't own the building they couldn't. So there moving elsewhere. I guess that cool, but will take some use to cuz it's been there all my life. Mom will have to get her but up cuz she will no longer be able to drive right down the road to get to work.

That is the positive that I see here. Takes more traffic away from 40th.

The rent for that building was actually not that bad. I thought about it for a bit, when I was determing how much of a loan I should get. However, being sandwiched between a Walmart and a Hudson's takes away going for a low end retail store, and opening a high end retail store doesn't make that much sense because most of the money is elsewhere.
