Green said the victim managed to jump out of the car and later called police, who responded around 6 p.m.
“There was a delay,” Green said. “We responded once we were notified.”
Green said the men were driving an older model box-style Chevrolet Caprice with a light blue exterior hood.
He said the driver of the car had a “flaming skull” tattoo on his neck.
The victim suffered minor injuries when he escaped from the vehicle, Green said.
Eddy Street is the road from Clover Leaf Mall to Walmart on 49. Duh !!
Pretty Dumb to do it in a Donk, Box or Bubble unless he's getting ready to paint it real soon. Mabey with a Donate logo on the hood from a charity.

Now would you accept a ride from folks you don't know?

Waay back yonder during the Viet Nam era, soldiers used to hitchhike home for leave...dress in their uniforms to let folks know they were safe. It's sad what our world has come to today.

I see people walking all the time and would love to offer rides, especially as I had times in the past where I had to walk. You don't dare, though, offer or accept a ride.

I know the feeling. My momma always warned us to never pick up hitchhikers but I was on the way to the school bus line one day and did just that. It was on S. Main that I saw the boy, about 19, walking with a bag of groceries. I ran an errand and 15 minutes later, saw him again way out Carterville Road. My heart broke because he is someone's child somewhere. So I turned around and asked him if he needed a ride. He was so grateful and polite. We talked about his grandmother in Missouri, his girlfriend he followed here that's in jail. He seemed lonely and homesick, but was determined to stay here and find a job and try to make it. And the house where I dropped him was almost at highway 42- that's a real long way to walk from the dollar store on Main street- he didn't know where the highway was or that there were places he could apply for a job alot closer to that house. I don't know if it made a difference to him, but I thank God that helped someone that day... and still made it to school on time.
And no, I didn't tell my mother.

I'm glad stormy that it worked out for you...but please don't make the assumption that it will always be like that....please be careful. This world isn't like it used to be...and that's to our shame....

Back in the hippie era, I used to hitch all over the Burg, and the main highways of Mississippi, & east Texas, and I know I was just LUCKY... looking like Jimmi Hendricks in the south in the early 70's... LUCKY...

I got off my night shift at the hospital and saw a young woman with a small baby walking down the road with a KFC uniform on and thought "there is a mom who will do anything to give her baby a life", I turned around and asked her if she wanted a ride, I took her to the daycare and up KFC. She told me several people had offered rides but she was scared for her and her baby but with the nurse uniform on she thought it would be safe. I felt good that day that I helped someone, but I would be very careful to do it again.

Back in the 70's my boyfriend hitchiked from Lumberton to Hattiesburg to see me. Whenever we would see people hitchiking we would give them a ride if they had a duffel bag or back pack or something like that. God was watching out for us because we never got any bad people. I remember 2 boys from MO that were hitchiking down to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. I had a bag of snacks that I had just gotten from a pick a pack. I took out a pack of nabs & those boys looked real hungry. I asked them when was the last time that they ate & they said yesterday. I handed them the bag of snacks. We were going down I 59 as far as Lumberton, but my boyfriend went a little further to Poplarville & when we let them out we gave them $10 because that was all we had between us. My Mama would have had a stroke if she had found out about that. We were taking a chance, but back then people were pretty decent. I wouldn't dream of doing anything like that today!:smt118
