Okay - so it's been reported that the shooting yesterday is only the 2nd homicide of 2008 for Hattiesburg.

Let me begin by saying this is GOOD- I think we've already been passed by several surrounding communities (ie Marion County area, etc.). For a city the size of Hattiesburg, I think 2 murders in 1/2 a year is decent...

BUT - I posted yesterday that I live a few houses down from yesterday's murder, and that, OVERALL, we were a decently-safe area. Well...I might have changed my mind... :ohnoes:

Because I REMEMBERED that since there were only 2 murders so far, and that the first one happened near 19th Ave and Pearl and the yesterday's happened one block over at Kimball and Pearl - that we must be the most dangerous neighboorhood in Hattiesburg!!!! :smt086 :smt086 :smt086 :smt009

Anyone know the name of a good realtor??? :kekeke:

Maybe it was late last year then - but a murder took place with a man left dead in his driveway just a few months back just a block or two away from this one...

You may be talking about the murder on Brookwood Lane...part of it (the one where the murder was) goes from S. 19th to Adeline St. THAT is in my neighborhood! :ohnoes:

I couldn't agree more - I thought it was more than 2, and I hate to say that I was impressed that it was only two.

The Hattiesburg American hyped it up on that story today about the latest murder. It sounded like people were being gunned down left and right, instead of two for the year. Did I understand correctly that the victims of the two homicides were relatives? I know the police say they believe the shootings are unrelated, but what a coincidence.

yea that's not smart - that's why people are afraid to give witness accounts or to turn anyone in because they are afraid of retaliation - and for the paper to put their name out there for anyone to see is pretty idiotic.
