The Hattiesburg Jaycees are hosting their 3rd Annual Cookout for Cops on July 4th from 11 - 1 (or there abouts) for all of our first responders who won't be able to enjoy a BBQ with their friends and families because they're out serving the greater good.
We'll have hamburgers and hotdogs and all of the stuff that makes a cook-out a cook-out. If you're a first responder, we'd love to have you stop by!
What: Cookout for Cops
When: July 4, 11:00 - 1:00
Where: The Jaycee Hut on Hutchinson

What a great idea! :smt001
I didn't know the Jaycees did that.....in fact, now that I think about it.......I really don't know much about that organization at all.
I hope they all stop by for a meal....they really deserve it.

As of right this minute we got everything we need. It should be a really good day if we get the same turn out as we have gotten in the last 2 years. I think the Fire Dept has ruled me a fire hazzard though. :ohnoes: I stopped by a station today to let them know and I couldnt get out of the parking lot for the traffic so I made the turn lane my traffic lane for a few minutes. LOL. They were laughing and waving good bye. So if there is a notice out on me please throw it away. :smt023

The Jaycees would like to thank everyone who came out this afternoon! We had a great time and hope that those who stopped by did as well.
Special thanks go out to USM, Hulett-Winstead Funeral Homes, Moore Funeral Homes, Raising Caine's, Rose's Quick Stop, and several very generous members of No Man's Land for their contributions to this afternoon's feast. Thanks also to the Coyote and his lovely wife for manning the grill, marion for coming by with brownies and hanging out with us, betsy for manning the condiment station, g8rfan and Mr. g8r for their assitance. We appreciate everyone who helped make this event a success, and we couldn't have done it without y'all.

On a sad note.. One of the deputies at the cookout was injured in a car accident late this afternoon. The medics at the cookout responded to his wreck and took care of him. I havent heard what is all wrong with him but he should be okay.
The job that these people face everyday is unreal. Everybody sitting around talking, eating and having a great time then later on in the day these same people are working an accident scene involving one of them.
