Our elevators got stuck around 7:00 tonight and the manager of the apartments, who is off site, informed us that the Elevator company will not come out until morning. Now since these are apartments for retired seniors, some of us are not able to navigate the stairs. There is a lady across the hall who has had to have medical help 3 times since I have been here (10 months). What if any of us needed help before morning? Not to mention the two ladies who live on the 2nd floor who were in the laundry room on the first floor and one uses a walker. She had to sit on the steps and move up one at a time. I really think they just don't want to pay the extra charge for night service. This is terrible. And the worst part of it is that I have to walk my dog darn it!!

Betsy,
That is horrible, especially the lady who had to sit up the steps. Wish I could do something to help.

Y'all tie some sheets together, tie one end to the bed, drop it out the window, and escape!

I thought about doing that to Patches and then pulling her back up after she did her thing, but decided the exercise would surely not hurt me so I walked her down the stairs..lol

i need help understanding whos idea it was to put stairs and multiple floors in a place for people who routinely have broken hips

Well we usually have an elevator and you have to have stairs for safety reasons. This is not an assisted living place, King, it is apartments just like any others except just older folks who are mostly in pretty good health.

I just ordered you one of these, Betsy. Attach your looong leash, and throw her out the window. I have an old boat winch in the shed if you need it to winch her back in the window.

Still stuck and looking out the window I do not see any truck that resembles an elevator truck. I am getting dizzy, I feel the walls closing in on me, I am sweating, my heart is racing, it's getting harder and harder to breathe What if I run out of food? Will my family and friends ever be able to reach me? Patches is getting claustrophobia too. She is trying to get up off the floor but is have trouble on her wobbly legs. Oh, will someone reach us in time or is this our doom? Things are getting darker......

Elevator man came from Meridian (don't they have elevator men in H'burg?) said they have to order a part. I could say some ugly words here. Just use your imagination cause I don't want to be put in the slammer too.lol

There may be some kind of ADA violation going on here. The owners should relocate people who can't navigate the stairs to a hotel. In fact, I wonder if there's a fire code violation??
