Let me tell you about a man from right here in Hattiesburg MS. He was a conscientious objector & refused to carry a gun so he joined the army to defend the United states. He was surveyor & ended up in the CBs. He was a first generation German immigrant. He refused to talk about the war, but his friends from that time said that he was one of th most courageous people they knew in the war. That he would walk right out into fire to shoot a line to lay down a runway or a road. And that he said he wasn't afraid because if God wanted him dead he was dead already & that if God wanted him alive there wasn't anything on earth that could do him harm.

I think that though he never fired a shot, he was a hero of the second World War.
