Hi Everyone!

I'd like to invite everyone here to purchase a golf ball for the 1st annual Chili's Golf Ball Drop for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Each year, Chili's across the US are encouraged to raise money for St. Jude. November 14, 2007 marked the national grand opening of the Chili's Care Center. The Care Center, which will house the major treatment and research programs for brain tumor and bone marrow transplant patients, was made possible by donations from Chili's annual Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign.

Create-A-Pepper grew out of a local fundraising campaign for St. Jude in 2002 and became a national campaign in 2004. The campaign offers guests the opportunity to donate to St. Jude by customizing a signature Chili's pepper coloring sheet.

Funds raised from the campaign contribute to Chili's 10-year plan to donate $50 million for the construction of the Chili's Care Center.

Restaurants compete to be the top contributor to the fund raising campaign. This year, your local Chili's has decided to put on a Golf Ball Drop as part of their multi-faceted fund raising campaign.

The prize will be $20,000 for the ball either in or closest to the hole.

You may pay with Visa, Mastercard, or personal check.

To purchase a ball, call Vaughn Bosarge at the Petal Chilil's at 601.545.1638. You can ask to speak to Vaughn or another manager on duty for details.

If you cannot afford a single ball, you can find some friends and pool your money together and purchase a ball!

*Must be 21 years old to participate. You do not need to be present to win. One or more individuals may team together to purchase a single golf ball.

There will be other great prized given away and you could be a big winner!

To everyone:

This event should not be confused with the ARC's golf ball drop, which uses the proceeds to support a local non-profit organization.

Chilihead:

Did y'all just take the ARC's fundraising event and rebrand it as your own? It seems that every detail, right down to the layout of the yard signs, is very close to the established fundraising details of the ARC golf ball drop. I can't confirm this, but I'm also told that the ARC contacted you and asked you to consider changing your event, as it is easy to confuse with their fundraiser. I see that if this conversation did, in fact, occur; you did not see fit to accommodate their wishes. I think your beneficiary is a worthy one, but creating carbon copy fundraising events that are easily confused with other local nonprofits is not exactly a good business practice. I hope that in the future, you will consider your impact on our local community before you decide to hold an event like this.

Why does it matter if it is going to a good cause?

My thoughts exactly. Does ARC have a patent on this particular fund raising techniqe? Come on.....

I remember once working with a group that wanted to do a "Toys for Tots" project. Somebody said that we couldn't call it Toys for Tots because the Marines were the ones who started it and named it that.

We made a bunch of phone calls to all sorts of Marine centers and finally got the official word that they didn't care if we called it that or not, they were just glad that someone else wanted to do the same thing that they were.

As long as they're not trying to mislead people into thinking that they're the ARC, I don't see what the big deal is.
