Over the past few days I've had problems with the HA website - more than the usual slowness.

After some posts rather than being redirected back to the forum I get a blank screen and can only get back to the forum by reloading the site from scratch.

Today the site will not even load the first time. When I try to load the site my computer which is always quiet slowly begins to sound like a 747 readying for take off. A few green bars as if something is happening as the whirring pitch increases but nothing other than a bland screen. When I close that screen the whirring slowly subsides. Is this a site problem or my computer or fate trying to tell me something about the HA site?

Thanks in advance.

James

James, I just tried the paper itself and the forums and had no trouble accessing either one. :smt102

I stopped reading the HA for the loading problems. I use Linux and I thought it was a little more operating system specific.

I thought the stupid site was a little busy....all I wanted to do is read it, not navigate it.

No problems here, in fact it all loads rather quickly for me. Of course, I only saw those dreaded pop-ups everyone was having problems with a while back once or twice too......

james... clear your temp internet files, cookies and browsing history and see if that helps.

I would also suggest trying it in different browsers. Also, make sure you try restarting if you use Windows.

My manager just applied his computer skills and cleaned my computer of a virus. Things are much better now.

Non related, I was curious as to why my request was moved to "Petal"?

For some time I've tried to work with the HA to address some issues with their site. It' s been 2 weeks since I've even gotten a reply of any kind from the moderator. I've been considering moving my forum participation primarily to this site but I do like the news content provided by the paper which sparks do many discussions.

Would it be improper to migrate many of those discussions to this site by pasting a link to the HA story? Would such a move be ethical as the HA does at least provide some form of forum format with all its faults? Would such a move be beneficial or detrimental to Myhattiesburg?

Thoughts?

I think it's entirely appropriate to paste HA links here and discuss them. I do it quite often as do other people. I don't think they'd like for the entire text of their articles to be pasted, but links should be fine.

Go for it!

The site over here's 100000000 times faster than the HA.

The HA takes SOOOOOOO long to load.

Just tell everyone that until the HA can fix their problems, all questions can be addressed to you on MH. Give porter the house keys for a bit.
