Yesterday I filled up @ Keiths in Oak Grove for $3.41 gal, today all the pumps had bags over them @ 11:30. Across the street @ BP $3.55 gal.

Supply and demand.... people are gasing up due to Gustav and some stores are running out so they can go up on prices cause we will still pay it.... We all remember what it was like when we couldn't get gas so we are easy to jump....

The also are pulling workers off oil rigs in the gulf.

The gas stations are busy as heck. Everyone one I've seen was packed with people filling up cars and additional gas containers.

It's in anticipation of production stopping in the Gulf with Gustav. Of course, I'm sure if Gustav did a complete 180 and headed towards Africa the prices wouldn't drop right back down to what they were yesterday. It would take a couple of weeks for them to fall again. :smt086

Actually, I think noway is right. Oil rigs in the Gulf shutting down should not have that kind of impact on gas prices today. They should have an impact on gas prices next week or next month. Oil prices have only risen $3 in the past week so it should not be that much either.

This is the busiest I have ever been at work. I am the only guy that has responsibilities at work and the sky is falling here. My guard unit said I may be on active duty next week, I have made about 200 maps and laminated them for the hurricane preparation. I think this is like my 4th post today because I have been so busy. Wow.

That's what happens when all the Grovers fill up their Yukons and Expeditions.

They'll have to fill up again before the storm, anyway...

they say that they are not gouging and there is nothing that the AG can do-

they are raising prices because of anticipation and also they are going to have to pay more for gas after the storm.

Melba grocery had 25 cars in line yesterday evening and they only have one pump.

It was like something you see on T.V. except it was in Melba. It was utter chaos. I sat out back and watched the debacle. People pullin' in...gettin' out of their car. Puttin' hands on their hips like they were pissed and gettin' back in their car and cuttin' donuts in the parkin' lot and haulin' butt towards Sumrall or Bassfield. You'd a thought a nuke went off in the U.S. somewhere or something.

I was up in Sumrall last night and the scene was similar over at Aultman's. There were vehicles lined up with trailers and large fuel drums. The parking lot was packed and had a line waiting. I just wanted a snack so I backed out as to not block the pumps. A lady pulled up and asked me if they were sold out of gas. After I left there I noticed that the Shell station was not nearly as busy. There were open pumps there. I don't know if maybe the gas was a penny or two higher there or something? It would have been worth it to me to pay the extra penny or two and not be stuck in line (burning gas) all night. Maybe I'm just out of the loop and there was some secret reason to wait in line that I haven't figured out yet.

I was out on Newman Camp for a bit. If I'd have known you were out and about I would have ridden by Fish.

It was 3.39 at aultmans'...it was 3.50 or 3.53 at the shell.....You couldn't get into aultmans lol.....then they changed the price at like 6:00...I went by as they did it...I can only imagine that people in line got pissed.

Terry's had a trailer load of generators and he was sellin' em' like hot cakes on a cold mornin'. Melba grocery was at 3.39 and was still that way this mornin'.....My neighbor straight across the road pumped one of those white containers with the wire around it full yesterday. Prolly like 300 gallons because his pick up bed couldn't take much more lol....

Let's pray that there's not another hurricane anywhere this year. We don't need yet another rise in price. All this mess started after Katrina. I remember us fussing then about $3 a gallon...and it never did go down much. Now it's going to go up to $4 and it will probably stay there.

I'm lucky to live in a walkable Neighborhood, I work about 4 or 5 blocks from my house have access to Corner Market, Drug store, Dollar stores, Bank, Post office even a 24 hour store. I can do most of my shopping and pay bills without ever having to crank my car.... When I do use my car it gets good gas Mileage.

Oil has dropped to under $100.00 per barrel, but I'm sure they're still fixing to bend us over.
