Found a spider in my kitchen this morning???????? Black (not midnight black), body a little smaller than a dime, 3 white diamonds on the back.
I have an infant that is crawling everywhere. What kind of spider is this?
I hate spiders.:ohnoes:

As he should. However, from the description you gave it doesn't sound like a poisionous one. Regardless, I wouldn't want any spiders near my baby.

Haha, I didn't want to call him out again in this thread. I tried searching with the description she gave, but I only came up with huge spiders. If she saw one of those she would not be at her home still.

Don't smash the crap out of them next time. It's easier if we have a picture to look at.
Hey, that's a good idea for a website - how to identify a smashed spider.

this looks alot like it....more uniformed in color though and darker and looked more like diamonds on the back...but from what I have read spiders in the same class will not look exactly alike............i bet this is it....what is the name????
Cupboard Spider AKA Cobweb Spider.
Genus: Steatoda - and there's over 100 species worldwide. A good many of them do have a triple triangle or diamond pattern on the back.
It's very possible that you've got one of them there.
The good news - their venom isn't 'medically significant' and they're not aggressive.

I saw a spider like you described... it was at the boys house last week. He has the 3 white spots on his back... he was HUGE, but slender "body". He was in a web up high, but the boy squished him. He looked scary!
