I am a volunteer for the Hancock County Emergency Management agency and was there through Katrina and for 7 months after. They have called and asked me to come down for the activation which will probably be tomorrow or Sunday. Now as you all know I am not in the best of health yet, but I had to put my little best friend and loving companion, Patches, down yesterday which is just about to kill me and I need to do something to keep busy. I will have my own office with a cot in it so I think I will do fine. So will you all please say a little prayer for me? Patches was with me the whole time I was there during Katrina and everyone loved her so much.

Ditto! I'm a Red Cross volunteer and I'm sure they'd welcome any volunteers as long as you fill out the paperwork now and not when the storm hits. Let me know if you are interested.

Thank you for your call yesterday. It really helped.
Meems took me to the doctor and got me a shot that helped me through the day and he instructed my home heatlth nurse to remove my pic line today so no more antibiotics. Thank Goodness. I told her today what I planned to do and she said that as long as I don't lift anything I would be fine. I will be in an office with a computer and a cot so that I cn lay down if I get tired. which is just about the setup I have here in my apt. Thanks for the concern. All of you here are like my family and I appreciate each of you.

Marion, I was a Red Cross Volunteer for 36 years before Katrina and was the Government Liason for them for 9 days after Katrina. I have been on the OReilly Factor and several newsstories including NPR out of Wahington about how I could get absolutely NO help in Hancock county. Gene Taylor was on his phone telling the people in Washington that he was looking at the entire Red Cross in Hancock County and her name is Betty Brunner. They read my deposition to congress during the hearings. I stated nine days after the storm that I would never work for the Red Cross in any way shape or form after the way they handled Katrina and believe me I did mean it. I was National and had been in Florida for several weeks the year before. I have no hard feelings for the volunteers but the Red Cross is to put it politely is a total rip off.

Stay safe Betsy and PLEASE DO NOT overdo! I am sure you are not 100% yet and you don't need to take any chances. Stay dry and out of any nasty water. I LOVE the Bay and Waveland...wish I could help too. I so miss my job down there!

I am almost ready to leave and they called and have activated the Emergency Management Agency (which changes it to the Emergency operations Center) so they need me there soon as they said the phones are ringing off the hooks. I assume by what they said, mandatory evacuations will begin tomorrow morning. For all of you who don't know the area, even if the storm goes further west, we will still be on the side that surges. There are so many bayous that are tidal that flooding could be devastating as there are so many people still living in campers trying to get their homes rebuilt. Please pray for all these folks.

Betsy, you are such a loyal person and if you didn't do what you are doing, you probably would feel guilty about it in a few days. It is good to get out after a loss of a loved one. I am a pet mom, and I understand what you are going through. The little tykes make us smile, cry, cuss and live life.
You be safe and take care of yourself and all the peeps you love.
