We have the 'what are you doing' thread... but I know we're mostly goofing off here...
So, what SHOULD you be doing?
Me, I should be studying yeasts and moulds.
I think I'm gonna go into study mode. See you guys in an hour or so when I take a short study break.
Have a good time... and tell me what you SHOULD be doing NOW!!!

Trying to figure out where all those candles I bought have been crammed. Looking for AA batteries and AAA batteries should be important.
I should be grading papers and posting grades before no internet is available.

I should be washing dishes, cleaning the house, and baking a cake. IF MH wasn't so addicting...
I'm really off this time...got to get the cake in the oven. But I have to wash the pan first. lol

I should be cleaning the house. My uncle is staying over tonight (they are en route to Gatlinburg) and I have so much to do. *sigh*
At least I got the grocery shopping done earlier today!

I should be loading up my car, taking pictures of my stuff, getting the cats ready to roll, packing my good clothes into space bags, etc. No, on the Sunday afternoon of my long-awaited three-day weekend, I SHOULD be reading a book with my feet up!

Im waiting on a generator to get here, then I'm gonna set that up make sure it's working right (brand new one) and then kick back and wait on tomorrow.
I'm doing exactly what I should be doing now...taking a break. Cake's made and decorated. Everything's ready to cook. Waiting for the boys to get here. When I get up from here, I'm going to blend a pitcher of daiquiris. And stick a straw in and suck one straight down! :-D

The new owners of Mc calisters just informed my 16 yr old ( who works at the one in the mall, and has for a year,a second from our house)that she has to work her shift tommorrow at the Hardy Street store, because they are closing the mall....or she'll be fired!! We are under a state of emergency for petes sake...how would we even get out to take and pickher up in a freaking hurricane? Totally illegal right??

I would call the manager and tell them that although she wants to work and loves her job, you are not allowing her to get out in the weather as a 16 year old driver.

The manager of her store said she would have to take it up with the new owners ..and they would probably fire anyone who didnt show up,. And she doesnt even drive yet.. ..we would have to take, and pick her up.

That is a manager trying a CYA move. I would call and speak with that manager directly. That way, the manager knows where you stand in the matter. She can not go to work, and that is that. If you want to fire her, then ok. I would bet that they have enough trouble keeping employees so if she is normally a responsible employee, she will be fine.
Let us know what he/she says.

I know the manager... I don't think he would be a dick like that unless he was told to do that. Atleast I don't think he would... try to talk to him and see if you can't work it out. If not, I might try and talk some sense into him.

Yeah..i just tried to call her to see whats up. He's a puddin for asking a kid to speak to the owners. And she is a very good employee, never ever been late,or not showed..works extra any time shes asked, been there like a year and a lil bit.

I'm sorry to hear this - but it sounds to me like the business is trying to get some extra cash from all the evacuees - at the expense of a young lady! What happened to the individuals who were scheduled to work at the Hardy location? :smt102

Exactly. I wouldn't stress too much more over this. Sometimes managers are just over scheduling to make sure they have enough show up. I still wouldn't let her go, especially now. Puddin' - I love it.

Well then you hurt the employees that work there as well as the owner. Less business= less employees. Maybe a nice letter in the paper though would be an appropriate action.

Back on topic! I should be sitting here, waiting for the Weber to get ready to put the T-Bone steaks over that charcoal and get all the neighbors drooling! Oh - did I mention I also have a mixed drink (CC)?
I spent close to 4 hours this morning - rearranging the garage (of course it was my stuff - never Mrs DY's), got the generator in there ready to move to it's normal operating location, all the extention cords, 25 gallons of gas, a trash can full of water (to flush the toilet), and room for both vehicles. I must be getting better at this as I have room to get into and out of each vehicle!
I got the deck cleared off and everything into the storage shed.(table, chairs, plant stands etc)
...........so I deserve the steak and the drinks and that's what I should be doing!!:-D

For safety sake I would move the extra gas out of the garage. I am sure you know that you need to keep the garage door open if you are going to run the generator. Ideally it should not be in an enclosed space.

The generator is not run in the "garage" (which is really a carport and does not have a door on it - it is enclosed on three sides though). The generator is moved to the front porch and the extra gas goes on the end of the porch opposite the generator! Thanks for the reminder - I am sure others may also find it helpful!

I should be unpacking. Took stuff to my mom's with the idea "what if a tree falls on the house?" plus two cats and their gear. It's all just thrown on the sunporch from where I unloaded the car. I'm just beat to pieces. These stupid cats are not good houseguests -- one of them cried from about 4 am onward this morning and kept us awake. He's lucky to be breathing. Grrr....
However, I did one "should" which was to thank God with all my heart for an intact house to come back to.

I SHOULD be working on all this busy work for class and ordering a book off Amazon. Instead, I'm burning every episode of Space Ghost on DVD. The hurricane thing was a good chance for me to catch up on some unnecessary movie burning. I've downloaded and burned about 23 movies in the past 3 days (gotta get my money's worth! clogging those pipes!). Watching Dexter (Season 2) in between. I've been totally worthless... All things I should NOT probably be doing.
