I've uploaded lots of new avatars in the gallery. A registered member can click Profile at the top of this page, then scroll to the avatar section and click to go to the Gallery and choose.
Also, when you reply to a topic, you can use the "View more Emoticons" to open a window with lots of new smilies. Just click the one you want once, and the code will automatically be inserted into your post. Close the window, finish your text, and click Submit. Your emoticon will be in your message.
