the picture in the news story says "Jesus Sighting" I never know what to think about these things and I'm a Christian.

hey, its cool with me. just another that actually believes in Jesus. Woot
i mean.. look at the picture.. you know that it is not really Jesus. but the fact that she has brought it to others attention that an image of Jesus is on her door... thats good. cut that out and frame it baby. hit the national news with it.

She said that a dream led her to the door. I wonder what her dream was about. Anyway...I am definately a Christian, but I don't think that people today actually have the ability to see Jesus physically. If we did, then why would we have so many different portrayals of Him?

Really? How do you know? You know what Jesus looks like? No, you don't. I don't think anyone does. You can't really take any two pictures or paintings and get the exact same physical features and distinctions in each one. There isn't a consistancy. I think that we will be able to "see Jesus" for the first time since his ressurection during the Rapture (for those that believe).
This is strictly opinionated though.

not the picture. actually Jesus.. as in.. he is right here before me.
and by yes.. there is a consistancy. look at the pictures all over the world of Jesus. they are all very consistant. maybe not down to the cheek bone EXACT structure.. but Jesus has always been represented consistantly.

what comes to mind when you see this picture
that is consistancy. when you see a picture and you dont say someone else's name. you would say "Jesus" when you saw that picture
i dont think this is something someone just started a couple of hundred years ago and said.. this is officially what we are going to make him look like.
the image on her door DOES in fact "look" like Jesus. but is it ACTUALLY Jesus. i said no.

who says that's Jesus? Everyone? Sure they do. Why? Because someone else has always told them that is who that picture represents. Every person that sees that picture and responds with "That is Jesus" hasn't actually seen Jesus and can say without a doubt that IT IS JESUS. My question is how do you know that is what he looks like? You don't.
The woman never said she saw Jesus. She reported images of Jesus in her door. You may want to re-read the article.
If there is a consistancy then why is it so easy for me to find material like this?
"Many different pictures of Jesus are shown to us in the world. Which one is the right one?"
Artist depictions of Jesus are from much later than his time walking the earth. Therefore, we do not have any way of knowing exactly what he looked like. More importantly, the Bible seems to place no great importance on Jesus' physical appearance. Isaiah tells us: "He has no form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him" (Isaiah 53:2).
In art, we often see Jesus depicted as a light-skinned man with reddish hair and blue eyes. And African art has depicted him as having dark skin and Asian art has depicted him as having Asian eyes.
The fact is ... no one really knows what Jesus looks like. They simply know what they have been told he looks like.

well my question to you is... why are you a christian. do you KNOW GOD exists? do you have proof in anyway?
you are wanting cold hard facts on the pictures of him.. rather than what has been passed down. so I really dont know what to tell you there. you might need to restablish your beliefs, based on that quote. maybe you dont need to.. i dont know.. thats just what i'm picking up by reading that quote. you just are knocking hardcore at the fact that she called that image a Jesus look a like.
do i know what Jesus looks like? no. do i believe in Jesus? yes. do i believe he looks like the pictures portray him? yes. why? because it has been passed down through generations. just like the bible has. all these people making pictures are just the same as all these people making the bible. where is the bible in real life? the original? i have no clue.. because i havent seen it. all i have is the recreations that have been passed down.

i dont read all the articles.. i read the head caption. it states A Pharr, Texas woman says she has spotted Jesus Christ on her home door.

look alex...you are really making this a personal attack. I wasn't asking you anything specific until you jumped on me about it. my VERY FIRST REPLY stated that this was MY opinion, MY belief. That is what forums are all about....OPINIONS, not attacks. You believe what you believe about the pictures or "Jesus Sighting" and I believe what I believe about it. Who's right? doesn't matter.
I just think it was really low for you to question my christianity based on me not believing that images of Jesus are accurate or true. You are not the one to judge or not to judge who is and is not a christian.

not attacking you at all
you quoted me from my first post
i just stated that it looked like Jesus. it seemed like you were upset over that and then posted against me again.
opinion or not.. thats what makes your beliefs a reality. just because you post on "opinion" doesnt mean that you should go back and say "its just an opinion". i post my opinions on here to.
you can say that i am personally attackiing you.. but go back and look who started quoting who first and telling him how it is.
USM_designer says: "i mean.. look at the picture.. you know that it is not really Jesus."

i just defend this statement. and thats what i kept doing.
yes, forums are about opinions. but you have to watch how you say stuff on here. ive been on them long enough to know that if you start quoting someone and telling them what you think about their thoughts.. that they are going to question yours as well. that is what happened. except when i turned it.. you obviously got upset. sorry for that.
we can go back and fight about the turtle if you want to :)
