Could this report I found in the Hattiesburg American be true? In the past 24 hours, these crimes have been reported in Hattiesburg and Forrest County:

That looks like a ridiculous amount of crime to me for a city like ours. Is this an average night? I'm thinking about beefing up security after seeing this.

Unfortunately, it's probably worse than this report.
Try calling the police when your children are having bricks thrown at them while walking home from school - wait time - 35 minutes.
Try calling the police when your neighbor is burning huge fires in his backyard during a party - wait time - 45 minutes (and policeman reveals your name to neighbor after specifically requesting that dispatcher allow you to remain anonymous)
Try calling the police when your stuff has been stolen right off your property time and time again - and getting brochures from some rookie police kid telling you to lock up your stuff better.
Try calling the police when your teenager is held up at gunpoint while walking home from Hattiesburg High - and when said teenager is too distraught to remember any details about the attacker's appearance, being snickered at by the policeman as if the whole incident has been made up.
I'm so sick of the crime in our middle-class neighborhood, I could scream.

That sounds almost unreal. But that's why I setup this site, so that people can have a voice and tell others about things like this.

It'd be great if I could have a "Mayor" forum here where people can post questions and comments and the mayor or his/her staff respond. I think that would be on the road to happier voters.
I've seen walt_coker in the online members list, don't know if that's him or not. I'd love it if you could talk to your elected officials in an open forum somehow.

F150 that would be great! If they would come here and Aaron could set up a Mayor Forum, I think everyone would love to ask questions.

i guess that's where our chat room would come into play. hehe
if we could get some of the candidates to show up.. that would be a good reason to make it.
though, their typing skills would have to be pretty good to keep up probably.. lol
