Hey to everyone. Glad to find a place where I can have a voice.
I'm fed up with the school system.
I'm fed up with the crime.
I'm fed up with feeling like no one is listening to me.
I love Hattiesburg - but it's not the city I decided to make my home 17 years ago.
I'm a mom of 4 boys, married 21 years. I teach music lessons, decorate cakes, garden and have a small Scripture collage business on the internet. www.wellspringwords.net
Love to hear from anyone,

I've lived in Hattiesburg for 17 years - but if I live here until I'm 90 and someone asks me where I am FROM - I will say that I am FROM Picayune, Mississippi. It's a "southern thing."
Lived there until we moved up here to return to college and never moved back home.

I grew up in Picayune.
I've lived in Hattiesburg for the last 17 years and still live here.
Hattiesburg is UP from Picayune (north - in normal people language)
(but I'm still FROM Picayune)

My avatar is MARSHA BRADY. Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!
She was my hero when I was 10 years old. Never quite got over it.
I was in love with Davy Jones.
Parted my hair in the middle.
Wore crotcheted ponchos.
Even went through a "white eyeshadow" stage...
How sad... :-)

One of my life-long dreams was to visit the Grand Canyon because that was one of the 3-episode story arcs on the Brady Bunch. Finally got to go there with my husband and four boys this past summer. I was so excited my kids thought I was going to fall over the edge.
I figured is I couldn't go as Marsha Brady, it would be just as nice to go as Carol Brady...
It was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen - it's so perfect, it looks fake.

great story, great avatar. Have you been to many forums before? Because you seem to have everything in place. You've got an avatar, a signature, and posted in the "Introduce Yourself" forum. And a colorful post at that. Glad your a member here. I'll cross my fingers for more like you.

When we moved to Hattiesburg we loved it. All the restaurants, movies and culture. I was a music major so I loved being in a town where I could take my children to operas, and symphony concerts and theatre productions.
Our first few years here, we lived at Pinehaven (USM married housing) had an absolute ball.
Our first few years here in our little house were wonderful. Great neighbors. Love living by the park, zoo, library - close to schools and such.
But the crime has become unbearable and the city/schools have basically segregated themselves. Some went to Oak Grove, some moved to Petal and the rest just pay to go to PCS or Sacred Heart. It's very discouraging to anyone who is trying to stay here and keep their kids in one of the old neighborhoods and go to school for FREE - which everyone should be able to do - considering how many school taxes we pay.
We would be here all night if I started listing all the crime and school problems we have experienced in this city.

The only forum I've ever joined was the TRADING SPACES fansite. But all they wanted to do was sit around and talk about "who is sexier - Ty or Doug?" and "How many time we see Paige's belly button."
It got boring after about a week but I got the hang of the whole forum thing.
And I can type REALLY fast. HA!

I sometimes take it for granted and think everyone can type fast. Being a forum owner, I try to think about why people aren't joining, and after they join, why aren't they posting? Typing has never come up in my mind as a reason. Thanks for your comments, and let me know if I can improve the site in any way.
