I may be out of the loop, but what kind of music is this?

Mark Kozelek's music is very quiet and introspective. His first group Red House Painters released a variety of albums during the 1990's that were filled with haunting almost Neil Young-ian epics like "Rollercoaster" and "Have You Forgotten" before he broke from that group and formed Sun Kil Moon. Their 2003 release 'Ghosts of The Great Highway' was one of the best releases of that year and while it sounds similar to RHP-Mark's songwriting seems more refined to methe band has a more textured sound. You have probably seen Mark before if you watched Cameron Crowe's 'Almost Famous', he was the bass player in the fictional band Stillwater in the movie.
