Sorry guys but I will not be able to make it on Tuesday as much as I am hankering for a Mugshots Burger. I am heading to the single tax colony/utopian community of Fairhope, Alabama and will not be back until sometime tomorrow afternoon. Ya'll have fun.

Well, the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. It seems that I will be in town tomorrow afterall. This should be one interesting lunch.

Here is a suggestion: if you people (all five of you with your ten identities each!!) manage to have a meeting, and HPD does not have to be called to break it up; then for your second meeting, why don't you invite Mayor DuPree, so you could talk with him about your concerns, rather than just about him.
You know how we teachers just love to get these little group projects going! (Just joking about the ten identities each, A)

Just one person with one identity here. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to show. I'm not sure everyone wants to be seen in the company of some of the names I've been called on here..lol.

Great idea!! Or better yet, we could all go to a Night In With the Mayor or Council of Neighborhoods and get involved in a program the mayor already has in place to invite community input!! Some of us may already go to these.

wait.. why would he show up? seeing he has banned this site from city hall because the people of hattiesburg's views on him, and the fact that he doesnt come to this site?
haha

Now, USM, be fair. If he had allowed the city employees time during work hours to read and post on this forum, many of you would have screamed (VERY MUCH ALL CAPS!!!) about how he was wasting the tax payers' money. And you would have been correct to complain about that. Did any of you read and post on your employer's time?
You know as Mayor, he could not have come to this site and posted. But I believe he would be happy to meet with concerned citizens to discuss in a constructive way how to improve Hattiesburg. He has Night in with the Mayor for that purpose. And the city council meets twice a month.

I'd like to get a group up to go to that Night in with the Mayor. Just to squash all of these rumors that he won't talk to people who don't support him. Maybe the Independent reporter could be there too. I don't know any of this first-hand, so I'd like to see for myself.

The reason he banned this site had nothing to do with anything on the site per se, it was because so many city employees were spending time on it on city time (i.e. taxpayers' money was being spent for folks to view this site).

I'm going to try to be there, although I still don't know how anyone will know who I am. I'd be really interested in another gathering to hand out t-shirts for instance or to wear them somewhere.

BTW, I will be the one in the Johnny DuPree shirt!! LOL

so wait. he banned this site but didnt ban internet use.
someone clear this up for me. why would a mayor go out of his way to come out and say "you are all banned from this site" but NOT say... "the internet is banned" or either "you will be monitored for every site you go to that isnt concerning your job"
banning this site and saying it was because you are on "work time" doesnt convience me of anything, sorry.

It's a ridiculous point, Reality.* Or maybe I have this opinion because in my job field, you WORK* the job you were hired to do.* Do any of us really know if Mayor DuPree ever said anything about this site?
And on my tax dollars, I want city employees to be doing the job they were hired to do, not to be complaining about what a terrible place they have to work in or to boast about what a wonderful place and wonderful employer they have.
But I mean that in the nicest way and not to offend anyone.

Actually, someone brought this to the mayor's attention that much time was being spent on this site. And this site is not the only site banned, no.
City employees are also restricted from sending non-work related e-mails at work. But that, too, has nothing to do with what the e-mails may contain that the mayor or may not approve of.
City employees are public servants with a job to do. That job does not include reading the myhattiesburg.com website. Many of the employees with access to the Internet have it to do research for their jobs.
City employees wishing to view this site are free to do so at home, which is as it should be.

i'm sure they have to get a 15 min break every once in a while. *us non smokers gotta have something to do while the smokers get their break, haha. *i know alot of places limit you to what sites you can visit on the web. *some people are privileged enough to not be monitored. *but i think before long, anybody with internet access at their place of employment will be monitored.

the Dupree supporters that were here the week before the election came from the same location of the city employees that were here a couple of months ago. I can't verify that location is city hall, but it is definitely a coincidence.

The funny thing about all of this is, I heard when the orders were given for this website to be blocked, the instructions were to block everyone except the Mayor and his PR person.
Teacher, THERE are your tax dollars at work.

Wish I could make it. An hour/15 minute drive both ways for lunch is a bit much, though. Next time, make it a Friday, and I'll take an early weekend.

Noway. One problem with having it at Mugshots. Won't it cause a huge traffic jam in the Highland Neighborhood?
Just a joke. Don't take it personal. Couldn't resist.

I certainly find myself more thankful each day that I''m self-employed and don't have to put up with such rules. I can understand why you don't want employees online hours a day, but come, on, getting on during a break should be fine. This isn't a porn site, television personality comments aside.

Speaking of which....sorry I didn't make it down there today. My telephone kept ringing off the hook and a couple of clients came in. So, no escape from the office.
In any event, how did it go? Who all braved the elements and made an appearance?

that was a nice gesture on the round of drinks, being sent in absentia. Heck, maybe I shouldn't let the voice mail pick up those calls...lol.
So how many showed? About as many as have voted in my WDAM male personalities poll?

heck probably so....but I did talk to one of my friends, whom I've posted about, who told me he was at Mugshots around one. He wasn't one of the peekers -- doesn't even know about the site so far as I know.
