As the richest member of myhattiesburg.com in hub dollars as of this morning, I am curious as to what the benefits are to hub dollars, as in what can they be used for? Additionally, what benefit is there is depositing my hub dollars into the bank, versus keeping it in pocket? Is their hub interest at the hub bank? As a Dave Ramsey fan, I think we need to create a hub mutual fund too...much better ran of return!!! lol....:p

Would that be a growth stock? And don't you think we need to have our emergency fund fully funded, you know, just in case, haha.

A couple of days ago I banked $2.00 just to check it out. Since that time I have earned a whopping $.10 interest.

I was checking some of the prices in the store and everything is expensive..like an italicized(sp?) name is over 500 hub dollars.

If I'm remembering correctly from my experience on a vbulletin forum that your money needs to be banked to buy something in the store.

heh...wish I could earn .10 for every couple of dollars in the bank every few days

I'm unsure about the store, but it came with the cash mod, so I installed it. As far as I know, there are two benefits to depositing your money in the bank. 1. Interest 2. It can't get stolen. This mod came with something you can buy in the store called "Thief" where you could turn around and try to steal others money that they have in their pocket. I disabled this because I knew I would hear complaints. As far as the store, I'm hoping I can put real merchandise in there donated by businesses for people to buy. Although I think it's going to be a hard concept to explain to a Hattiesburg business owner.

Hey Aaron I am wondering how the hubdollars are calculated. Is there anywhere we can see how much stuff we post is worth? Hub cap just made a reallly long post and he only has 5 dollars. WHat gives?

well, it doesn't really go on how long the post is. It's like 5 dollars per thread started. 1 for reply, and .10 for each view your thread gets.

The hubinterest thing works! I put 200.00 hub dollars in yesterday, and have already yielded 10 hub dollars, or five percent, in interest.

I can't find the bank either!

Also, I can click the "store" across the top and it just takes me to the "My Hattiesburg Community" screen. I am on a Mac, if that matters.

Please help!

Thanks

Click on Store, then it should be ushop menu and then the choice for bank.

Try going to this direct link http://www.myhattiesburg.com/forums/ushop.php?do=a&shortname=bank

I would have edited my post but can't find the edit button.

It does use Javascript to create the drop down menu, I know macs are a little behind on this. I would definitely try to download a different browser if you click on the small arrow beside the store and you don't see a drop down menu.

Thanks for the link Lyla! It worked perfectly, and I made my deposit. I wasn't able to see pricing for anything before, and with your link, it all works. I also found the bank there. Thanks for the help, guys.

The bank interest is five percent for every twenty four hours. I try to make a deposit each day as soon after the interest vests each day as I can get on. I put all but a few cents in the bank and have a balance to an even dollar amount. By doing so, I've already been able to buy myself a "red" screenanme vs. everyone else's blue and am about to make mine bold.

It's actually pretty cool.

So how do the reputation power and points work? Are these earned or given?

lamarrebel

reputation points are given by other users when they agree with what you have to say. reputation power is given automatically by number of points. Each 500 posts you get an additional point of reputation power.

Thanks for that info, hubbarrister. I'd figured out the points but not the power.

The power is simply how many points you can give to someone else. It goes up based on the amount of posts you have and how long you have been here.

I started making deposits on the 21st and haven't earned any interest yet. Does the bank not do this on weekends?

lamarrebel

interest accrues daily, but here's the catch -- you have to wait 24 hours before making another deposit for you to earn interest. If you make a second deposit within the 24 hour period, you have to wait another 24 hours for any interest to vest. The interest rate is 5 percent daily, if you can make your deposits close to the same time each day.

That explains it all! Thanks. :)
