These post have suggested that DuPree has not nor will not serve the position well. I know that he was elected. I know it was by a nice size percentage. I also understand that even as we speak higher authorities maybe looking into voting fraud. AGAIN NOTE I SAID I UNDERSTAND that this might be happening.
My question is . . . if we want a change, what exactly are the proceedures. What needs to have happened for this momentum to go in that direction. If/when criminal activities are uncovered how serious do they have to be for an impeachment?
Personally, I think that SOMEONE and SOMETHING will be uncovered that will bring the DuPree/Fairly reign down! May not be today, may not be tomorrow . .. BUT we have 4 years of intense, magnified and under the spot light activity by these men. I just hope that when the shoe falls . . those of you reading this that think this man hung the moon will not be the scape goats.
So back to the question .. . what has to happen to impeach this or any Mayor?

i was wondering the same thing. I know that California residents were upset with Gray Davis as their governor, so they got rid of him. I think they did this through the state legislature. With Dupree being the mayor, it would make sense for us to go through the Hattiesburg city council, I think, if we wanted a recall.

I am not aware that Mississippi has a recall provision for municipal officials. Hubbarrister or Slicker should know the answer to that though.

Yeah, yeah, Hubbarrister... can you provide an answer to this?

I'd love to know.

If the near attrocity that happened to Scott Farris eventually helps contribute to that ultimate end, it will be a very good thing for our beleagured Hub.

They would have to hold a new election that is why LJD would not support BR because he wanted a new election!

Folkes "noway" wil JLD be impeached forget it... If something does happen and I would think the city council president Carter Carroll will be the vice mayor.

I don't think Mississippi has a recall provision. And even if we do, it isn't as if the votes to oust DuPree will suddenly materialize.

I'm sorry to be slow in responding...Tire Swang is correct, there is no recall provision in Mississippi election law. Barring death, indictment or resignation. JLD is Mayor for the next 47 plus months.

let's just get Haley to call a special session so we can recall Dupree (just joking).

Haley and those darn special sessions!

Well, death won't be am option that we can control... we know he sure isn't going to resign... is there anything out there that we can help an indictment come along?

I think there's plenty Sir Mickey -- it's just a matter of the information coming out. If a good reporter in Hattiesburg could take the time to start at the beginning and follow the money trail throughout, I think he/she could find some things that could lead to indictments.

In the past, DuPree has been accused of spending city money on projects where it didn't belong. And I'm sure that's just the dust on the surface.

It appears to me that there is alot of corruption in the city.
And that starts at the top. JLD ...if he is the Christian man that Fairley says he is....should come clean on these issues....or at least...cut ties with corrupt people that he surrounds himself with.
But that may show us too much if he does that....and to be honest with you...I am sure that this man is NO man....especially since he hides behind the skirt tails of MM and BB!!!!!

Investigation in the citys and his personnal activities! Such as bank accounts to see if the cities is where it sould be and if the mayor/families sould be or if his is more because of bribes the IRS would like to know that! That would be a good start it doesn't hurt just to check and see what the situtation is!!
