Man, I just got back from Walmart, coming out I looked at the newsstand, and there it was, glaring right at me, INVESTIGATION! Appareantly the U.S. Department of Justice paid our dear city's police department a little visit yesterday. According to the article they are here checking on the case with that Vicky Miller gal who got fired because she was white (according to her). The article says that Wynn has said that there is no merit to the case, but I'm thinking if the DOJ is going to waste the time to send some people down there has to be something up. Wonder if this is why the council is waiting to vote on Wynn.

Nope, not in the HA. I just got back from Wal-Mart, too, and picked up a copy. It was in the Independent...

entire front cover is huge "Investigation"
with DuPree's picture and Wynn's picture with a HUGE Department of Justice logo.

I can't wait to hear what they say about this one. It won't be so easy to "blow off" when the feds are in town.

:smt038 WELCOME, Department of Justice!!!!!!!!!!:smt038

Of course, as I posted before, we'll get some standard feedback from the media who they do talk to... of course they love WDAM when MM hugs their downtown reporter.

If the U.S. Department of Justice is here that means the National news media is not far behind. All there needs to be is a leak to the media. A case of reverse discrimnation is always national news and we can expect at the very least some fox coverage if emails are sent. A department of justice investigation is always very thorough, and with all the cases they get, they prefer the ones with the most smoke, ones that are easy to prove. Any deep investigation is bound to bring up other malfeasance. They have to probe to get background for the case. This is good. This is real good. Im off to buy my copy of the Indepenent. :smt038

Peoples, peoples, peoples. In Wynn's book, "it's alright, to be white." There is no merit to this woman's claims. She was always treated "fairley", and so the DOJ will find that Wynn's system of politics and law enforcement is one to be modeled and admired. The DOJ might seem like some Giant entity to you peoples, but let's remember Wynn's first name and how it relates to giants.

Bless you! The poor HA, had to wait over a month after The Independent broke this to let us know the DOJ was involved with this. In the June 2 edition of the Indy they said the DOJ was looking into this, and now they're here. Maybe we'll see something about that in the August 20 edition of the Hattiesburg American. LOL

Now that IS LOL-able, USM...

I heard a guy from the Indy talking about all this on Supertalk Mississippi this morning.

Someone thought they were trying to be smart, didn't they?

As far as I know it was just for discrimination. But maybe through the questioning they pulled up some more stuff. People have ways of blurting out things when they're nervous.

It's usually considered more "polite" to start a new thread and link to the old one rather than "necro" a year old thread. Just so you know.

Just out of curiosity, where did you find this rule of "politeness"?

Check just about any online forum and in the rules it'll say not to necro old threads. Some forums even automatically lock old threads.

I think we should call it "Frankenstiening" old threads.

I don't know what happened to this woman Vicki Miller. Anyone care to clue me in. Sounds like she went through the wringer and back. Where did she work?

there is a black lady by the name of vickie miller that used to work for the chief. she is now the office manager for the harrison county police training academy at camp shelby. don't know if this is the one you are talking about

Nope different one, but both worked for HPD. The Black Miller was Wynn's AA, and I don't know what the other one did. Before my time, but my understanding is she was reprimanded for something that black employees were clearly allowed to do. That is from dim recollection, so somebody correct me if that is wrong.

Yes, lest's all remember his first name. Let's relate that to the man with the same name, Mr. Koresh, who burned himself and others who believed in him. HE brought down a giant, too. A giant building with several people inside.

The Vicki Miller in this article was a records clerk. When she applied for an empty supervisor position, for which she was more than qualified, DW instead hired a new, black woman, with no work experience.

Just wanted to make sure the right person got the "Hub Bucks". And I thought it was a funny thread to read.
So, how old is a "necro" thread? I didn't know there were forum rules about this Aaron?? Could someone clue me in?

okay buggy, i don't get it...
You can see from the definition that "necro" has to do with dead things, in this case "dead" threads. "Necroing" a thread is basically internet slang for raising it from the dead.

ACEsmom ... I'm not aware of any specific forum rule concerning reviving older threads. It's done from time to time and I don't recall anyone making a comment. :smt102

Actually, this one is an interesting situation. As a relatively new myHattiesburg Citizen, it's easy to see why it tweaked your interest. I'd say forge on ... :)
