I am showing that I am not a native, but I have no idea what Homegrown Kentucky Wonders, Boudin from Thibodaux w/ Tabasco, and HGM are!

Big dinner planned... no lunch for me today!

HAHAH That does sound good, except I don't get into the Cajun foods...

I am a North Dakota native, but been in Mississippi almost a decade. I learn something new everyday! The most important: Don't say 'you guys' in Hattiesburg or you will get jumped.

HAHAH Sounds good... I like the spicy foods, but my yankee stomach can't handle them. I have grandparents in Smith County (that's how we ended up here, when my parents divorced) and luckily I got introduced to butter beans, biscuits, tomato gravy, and the good foods. Man I am starving now. HAHAH

I stopped at Columbia's Hardees on the way to Court in Tylertown at 1. I ordered the bacon Thickburger with frees. Not the most wholesome way to eat but filled me with little time to waste as I drove to court.

I made homemade pizzas last night for supper and planned on having leftovers for lunch. Someone beat me to it though so I settled for a baloney sandwich. Didn't taste too bad until reading about Hawkeye's lunch. Makes me hungry for a pone of Doris Aultman's cornbread.

I went to Season's out here in my neck of the woods. I had the chicken finger entree. For $10.95 you get like 10 large chicken tenders and a plate load of fries (or baked potato). I wonder who it is they are trying to feed -- a horse???

In any even, the other half of my lunch is my refrigerator and will be warmed up for dinner tonight.

Ah, one of Hattiesburg's best kept secrets. I can't say much for the atmosphere but the food is pretty darn good. (Speaking as a casual observer of course and not as a regular member of that particular club).

Fried chicken potatoes and gravy with two biscuits on the side
turnip greens with a slice of onion, so stong it brought tears to my eyes.

My lunch was not complete, until I finished with a fried chicken neck
This soul food has stretched the Reverands stomach, now all I need is the check.

Have Mercy

Thanks to j-Wynn's daddy's recipe, I am now boiling real big goobers.

In addition to the Big Goober Sale, and by special request in conjunction with the coming cold frontses, we will be holding the First Annal Fried Chitt'lin Fundraiser, soon. The monies generated will go to the United Caucasian Grandchill'ns College Education Fund.

Don't knock de chit'lins till you try'em. Remember, you might beat my price but you can't beat my Chit'lin. My Collards and Sweet Taters be kick'n, too.

Sponsored by GFE.

I've been here a little over a year, and if you count the five summers before I moved, that's awhile. There are still things I haven't gotten the nerve to try. Chit'lins. Collards. Grits. Lima beans.

*shudder*

Girlfriend fuzzis,
If you've ever eaten a hotdog winnie or luncheon meats, you've eaten chit'lins. And if you ever tasted my collards cooked wiff smoked neckbone, or had my grits wiff redeye gravy, why you'd fall in love. We eat dem giant white Lima's for sport. :smt040

Well, Hawkeye...can't remember the last time I had a hotdog winnie (the only place I'll consider it is at the ballpark and then I usually go for the Italian sausage dog) and lunch meat is usually roast beast or ham.

I'm always (usually) game to try just about anything, but I think I'll pass on the neighbor's lima beans with mayo. :eusa_sick

As for today's lunch, I'm having some black beans with sour cream. Good deal.

Yep, 'fraid so.

I suppose. I imagine the way chit'lins get cooked up is a bit different, though? :smt102
