We came up with a shrimp pasta concoction last night. First bite I took got spit in the trash and I fixed a bologna sandwich. The others thought it was good; even our finicky daughter that doesn't like seafood ate it. I don't know how 'cause it was G-R-O-S-S.

Rayner's Catfish.. They have the best catfish in town but you can't afford to eat there anymore. I went 2 saturday's ago and they have a customer appreciation meal 3 whole fish, fries, cole slaw, and hushpuppies for 9.99. Pretty good deal.. So I called them last night and said I would like the 9.99 special with the 3 whole fish. They said okay it will be ready in abot 15 minutes.. I get there and the lady says it will be 12.83. I said its 9.99 plus tax she said the fish has gone up its now 11.99. I told her when I called I aksed for the 9.99 special. Well we have gone up on our prices sorry.

So no more rayner's for me..

I remember you could get all you can eat fish for 10.00 now its 15.00.. :smt009

The sad thing is that Rayner's is the best catfish in town. My husband and I are both from Vicksburg which is unable to keep chain restaurants. The benefit of that is awesome local restaurants. We ate at Rayner's once and found it pretty mediocre. I feel bad for those of y'all that think that is good catfish. You are really missing out. Though you could save on the weight gain...so there is a bright side.:smt118

Wow. I like Rayner's catfish, but what I don't like is the fact that you get the fish with coleslaw and frozen frenchfries. I don't eat coleslaw and really loathe the kind of fries that they serve. I don't eat them. Their hushpuppies are rather lacking to my taste also....they taste like the frozen ones you get from Sam's or Walmart. Sooo, when I order fish at Rayner's, I eat fish, period. By the way, is that take out? Imagine what it would cost if you had eaten in with tip included!
I go out to eat because it's something I hate to cook, something I can't cook, or I just really am in the mood for a certain food and I do not want to cook it....Rayner's falls in the last category. I can cook it, usually at least as good as Rayners, but I just really hate frying fish! It makes such a mess! I guess hubby and I will be cranking up the old fish fryer though and cooking our own if restaurant prices keep elevating.

We had a going away party tonight for my youngest son. We grilled
spareribs, brats, and pork burgers, and had baked beans and cheese
potatoes on the side, followed with brownies and ice cream for dessert.
I think we might have had a beverage or two while cooking.

Ice cream from cold stone creamery. It was tolerable...but I'm sticking with Bops, DQ, and Baskin Robbins from now on

I had boiled shrimp, coleslaw, and hushpuppies from Charley's in Ellisville. I enjoyed giving my grandmother some company more than the food :)

Lord Lips,
I have had more shrimp from that place than I have had added pounds...LOL
Still pretty good after all these years, and you can't beat the slaw and the tea ( too sweet for me, but good )
Glad you had a wonderful time with you grandmother.

I usually fill up on slaw and crackers because it takes so long for the food to come out...LOL It is always so busy there, that place has been opened since I was a wee one. I remember going there for date night in 1982...

Mom had us over for supper. Fresh butterbeans, fresh fried okra, tomato salad -- those came from my cousin's garden in Tennessee. Mixed yellow squash & zucchini, bought on the way home from TN. Cornbread and tea. Banana pudding with homemade cooked custard. (And some of that came home with me for breakfast tomorrow!)

I boiled a pot of shrimp with all the fixings last night! They sure were good. I have started putting some link sausage in with the potatoes and all the other spices and such and the sausage was nearly as good as the shrimp!
