I nuked a Mr. P's Pizza.
The box says they're not microwaveable, but they lie.
If it fits in the microwave it's microvaveable.
I was just too tired to cook last night, and the sig. other is incapeable of producing an edible substance.

Very, very good. Brownstone's downtown. :)

Very lightly sauteed crab claws floating in a rich brown Cajun sauce. Plenty of garlic and other seasonings. Lots of toasted bread for sopping the sauce. Presentation was much like the famous barbecue shrimp at Pascal's Manale in New Orleans. The only thing Brownstone's didn't have was the bib to keep sauce from dribbling down the front of my shirt. It's a go-back dish.

Shrimp pesto over a light pasta. Best pesto I've tasted since leaving a small Italian enclave in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Southern Pecan Draft.

Doesn't get better than that. Just to be clear, I didn't eat all of the stuff myself, but I did taste everything I could reach. Had to fight for some second tastings ... folks didn't want to share.

The upstairs bar was busy but not a big downstairs crowd on Monday night ... and the service was outstanding. :smt038

Well it's nice to know I have company when it comes to eating boring suppers! Actually my supper was pretty good. Had a little leftover cooked chicken and a couple spears of broccoli, mixed up one of those broccoli & chicken "flavored" pasta mixes, stirred in the real stuff, and it was pretty good. Then cranberry jello with orange slices in it, and coolwhip. Not bad. Cooking for myself is ruining my cooking though. Half the time I have cereal for supper.

I've never heard of Brownstones. What type of place is it?
It's downtown, mccole. On Front Street near the corner of Front and Main Street, next door to McKenzie's on Main antique and gift shop. The is a French Quarter type balcony over the street and the food is generally New Orleans style.

The main restaurant is on the ground floor with the bar area, private dining room, and balcony access on the second level. Live music some nights ... it's on the balcony when the weather is nice.

They'll be blowing and going (along with everything else downtown and in the Historic neighborhoods) on Saturday night (December 9) during the Downtown Holiday Art Walk.

Additional information here (http://www.downtownhattiesburg.com/).

Enjoy .... :smt006

Well, where to start? Hawkeye was talkin' my ear off but I managed to work through perfectly grilled filet steak and a big ole baked potato. Hawkeye gathered up most of the beer at his end of the table but I managed to get one or two. Wife had a great tuna steak ... grilled just right. Not to disagree with our resident Mr. Southern but I call the noon meal lunch unless it's Sunday or a special occasion, then it's dinner. The meal I eat at night is supper. Always has been, always will be. No offense, HCM.

I eat lunch all day long...and all night. If it's an informal meal, with little to no prep on my part...it's a "lunch". Even if it's at 3:00 in the morning. :smt102 I'll probably be having lunch tonight.

Originally the word lunch wasn't a specific meal at all. It meant as much food as you could hod in your hand. It refered to a meal you carried with you.

From the way I've always understood it, dinner is the main meal of the day. In the olden days, when the wife stayed home and the men did most of the work, dinner was usually served around noon because everybody had been working their tail off, and needed fresh nourishment for the rest of the day. Supper was generally served at night and was not as big of a meal as dinner.

However, times have changed somewhat with both spouses working and most people eat a lighter meal around noon (lunch) and the big meal is reserved for night (dinner).

It's not the time that it's served, it has more to do with the amount.

Mama cooked tonight ! Always my favorite meal, no matter what she calls us over for -- tonight it was little steaks broiled in the oven, stuffed baked potatoes with cheese, Caesar salad and French bread. She had a fire in the fireplace -- nice hour with the family.

Lunch at noon, unless I stay up half the night with a book, then it might be breakfast at noon. Supper or dinner -- I agree with the "quantity" explanation. If you go out to a restaurant on Saturday night, it's "out to dinner" and then when you go to Mama's after church, it's "Sunday dinner"

Well, I decided to look this up in a few dictionaries and below is what they said (actual names of dictionaries not specified, but easily found on the internet) of 3 words used for meals. The boldness of certain words in some of the definitions below were added by me, as well as the notes in parentheses at the end of that definition.

dinner

1. a.The chief meal of the day, eaten in the evening or at midday.

1. the main meal of the day, eaten in the evening or at midday.

1: the main meal of the day served in the evening or at midday; (note: the meal doesn't have to be eaten, just served, in this definition)

the main meal of the day eaten usually in the evening

1 a : the principal meal of the day

the main meal of the day, usually the meal you eat in the evening but sometimes, in Britain, the meal eaten in the middle of the day (note: it says "in Britain" and not "the southeastern USA"!)

supper

a main meal eaten in the evening, or a small meal eaten in the late evening:

a. A light evening meal when dinner is taken at midday.
b. A light meal eaten before going to bed

1. the evening meal, often the principal meal of the day
2. any light meal, esp. one taken late in the evening

1: a light evening meal; served in early evening if dinner is at midday or served late in the evening at bedtime
2: a social gathering where a light evening meal is served (note: by this definition, it is the gathering for the meal, and not the meal itself)

(the following is from a Bible dictionary)
1. the principal meal of the day among the Jews. It was partaken of in the early part of the evening
2. a meal taken at the end of the day

lunch

a light midday meal between breakfast and dinner

A meal eaten at midday.

a midday meal

a meal eaten in the middle of the day

I got it too...and I hope I'm not old yet. Although, this weekend a guy didn't believe I was 30. I don't know if that was because I looked that much older or because he was contemplating the fact that he was hitting on someone old enough to be his daughter. :smt102

I've got a perfectly grilled steak with blue cheese and sauteed onions, along with rosemary roasted potatoes and steamed veggies for dinner tonight.

It's a bit of a pain in the ass so that's understandable. Maybe I'll save you some since I won't eat it all and left-overs and I don't have a good track-record. :smt102
