"When police officials were questioned by Hattiesburg American reporters"
"When the police fail to distinguish between the two, they raise legitimate concerns in the public's mind about their competency and/or their motives"
Do they understand NOW?

looks like it was at least an editorial or article due to all the knowledge about reporter questions.

interesting, I mean, look at the below quote, looks like a reporter to me, so either this is HA or a really close observer that REALLY cares about the Hattiesburg American.
When police officials were questioned by Hattiesburg American reporters on Wednesday - two days after the body was discovered - they refused to answer a number of questions, including:
# Were there signs of a struggle in Milam's house?
# Was the house locked when police arrived?
# Was the body clothed?
# Who was the last person Milam contacted?
# Is anything missing from Milam's house?
# Has the HPD identified any possible suspects?
All of which leaves us wondering: why the seeming cloak of secrecy?

This was there staff editorial, or at least it was in the same spot as the one that is, haha, I love how they used cloak instead of shroud, hahaha, trying to mix it up a bit.

Maybe the HPD is taking lessons from Fire Chief Fiero about not giving out information. Ole' Jim refused to give street addresses where a fire happened by trying to prove his ignorance about the HIPPA law. The only good thing that came out of the HA was that Fiero didn't know the law and proved his ignorance.
