Hey ya'll, i was talking to a few friends this weekend about Dupree winning re-election, and we came to the conclusion that Betsy could have really beat Dupree. Let me explain. There is a minister of one of the largest black churches in Hattiesburg, who some people deem to be as crooked as Fairley. This minister has had his share of recent arrests for drug posession, while still being a minister. Word has it that this minister and Fairley do not get along, so the minister tried to encourage members of his congregation not to vote for Dupree, because he knew that Fairley really would be calling all the shots. Some of the members agreed not to support Dupree, but they chose not to support Betsy either. The reason: because Betsy wasn't aggressive enough in getting the black vote. Had she worked the black neighborhoods the right way, we could have a new mayor now. The bottom line: Betsy could have beat Dupree, because a lot of the African-Americans in Hattiesburg know about Dupree and Fairley's schemes and so we are seeking new leadership. I just wish Betsy would have been more aggressive in getting the black vote. Dupree can be defeated in the next election.
As far as the identity of the crooked minister, some of you already know who I'm talking about. His congregation has more than 3,000 members.
