Is the 10-code used by the HPD? Many years ago, I noticed that the Jackson PD quit using it (I guess too difficult for some) - they just used "natural" language when responding . Best I remember, this was around the time of the beginning of the decline in Jackson. I don't know if Jackson ever started using it again.

10-04 HPD uses 10-codes because of the 1047's and the 10-44's that occur so much. If they can keep the 1075's and 1070's off the radio then the crime would be down. 10-04.. But mostly all you hear on the scanner is the 1027's all over town, trying to protect our businesses from 1070's and 1096's. 10-04.

HFD no longer uses 10-codes, WELL 99 percent of the time and going to plain talk. Not for sure in JAckson. Eventually all agencies will go to lap top MDT"S and not much radio traffic at all. :smt024

Officers required to look up their information and TYPE.... Is that JOB Safety? Course, it would require some education... and that's a PLUS!!
