My family and I had the opportunity to eat at a new Italian restaurant called Pomodori this weekend.
I know this won't sound very appetizing, but it is located in the Shell station on Hwy 98 across from Wesley Medical. The atmosphere was very elegant, well, as nice as can be expected in a gas station hehe...
The guy who opened it is from Italy, and he told us he was just "trying it out"... starting small to see how well it did before opening anything larger. Well, it is busier than he anticipated. He is now trying to buy out the entire Shell station so he can expand. When we got there around 6:00 we were the only ones there, other than a couple sitting at the bar. By the time we left, it was packed and there were still people coming in waiting for tables.
The food was absolutely wonderful. I am a Macaroni Grill lover, and I must say, it beats MC...~sigh~ I know Kimberly, you are going to be saying "WHAT??" haha! But it really was the best I've ever had, and it's very reasonably priced. I had the Baked Ziti ($7.95) --and for those Raymond fans out there, that's Marie Barone's famous dish. I could not believe the portion size when they brought it out to me. I ate almost half of it, and I had enough left over to take home and eat for lunch the following day and STILL have leftovers. My hubby finished the rest of it off. ;) They also serve dishes with shrimp, steak, veal, chicken, etc.. I was with 4 other people, and they loved it just as much as me.
I suggest if you go, make a reservation.
