Ok, here's the run-off to end run-offs and WDAM polls (at least until next year). So who is it: Pamela Weaver or Keegan Foxx?
aaron
08-01-2005, 03:03 PM
Weaver suffers from a bad portrait. We need the My Hattiesburg Magazine to get us some pics of WDAM after hours :)

I agree....Pam looks worlds better in person and on the news oftentimes that she did in this picture. That's why I haven't reposted it for this final poll.

Hawk, it was an honest mistake... for the record, I voted for Keegan in that tie breaker poll.

There's a cynical argument, which I won't put forward, and a realistic one which I will. This is a comparative poll, and in the last poll we were choosing between Keegan and Khara and I chose Keegan. This poll is between Pam and Keegan and I choose Pam. :smt119:smt119

I saw Pamela Weaver at Crescent City and she is beautiful in person. I've seen Keegan at Wal-Mart and although she's very nice looking I'd have to go with Pamela.

Now, Hawk...stop the negative campaigning. I've never said anything bad about Khara or Keegan. The day I saw her interviewing the Governor, she seemed to be thoroughly enjoying the interview and her overall coversation with the Governor.
We're voting for newsbabe...not State Senator.
lamarrebel
08-01-2005, 05:36 PM
You called Pamela Weaver a die-hard Democrat on a board that leans heavily Republican, and accused me of trying to keep Keegan out of the poll altogether. Sounds like an attack ad to me..lol.

I agree, we need to stop all of this pageant mudslinging and get down to the real issue here, hotness.

Everytime I see Keegan on air I want to push the hair out of her eyes. She reminds me of the daughter in the Incredibles who always had the hair in the face because she didn't want to be noticed.
Pamela seems much more polished as a news person than Keegan...maybe she has more experienced?
Did yall see the 5pm friday? Pamela and Nick were anchoring and at the end of the show they had about a minute left so they just showed them sitting on the set and a little boy came up to Pamela..then she sent him away and then he came back up again...I was wondering if that was her son? I bet he came up on set and then she told him to leave but then the crew probably said no he can go on up and "visit." he was a cutie...

I spent all day yesterday, responding to Hawkeye's muck
We've started a poll to say who at WDAM is hot
No question in our minds it's Pamela Weaver is she not
It looks like I'll be gone this coming Friday
So, Noway, after Pamela wins, you'll have to shout "hooray!"

hey noway i resemble that remark..
and remember guys (and you girls that are voting to) this is not about how good a journalist these girls are.. this is "newsbabe" so you must go on babeolosity alone. Nothing should matter except the shallow, superficial, surface babeology that we love so much. This is where we throw inner beauty out the window and get down to the important qualities that push the "swwang-otometer" into the red zone. This is the time for the barking dog in us all to stand up and be heard. Now I realize without a bikini or wet t-shirt contest or other respected, scientific babeolympic type contest, we are probeing in the dark. Basically we are dealing with a "talking head". But given the limits of our task. My "swwang-otometer" says, Foxx, Foxx, Foxx....

I never said that you had an English degree, honey. What my husband did was the same thing all men do, chase women while the wives work and take care of the children. Chelsea will never be the same.
You can take shots at my husband but who else among you have accomplished what he has done?
He was elected Attorney General of Arkansas at 30 and at 32 he was the youngest governor in the United States. He concentrated on improving the state's educational system and building better roads. After losing to the second term to Republican Frank White he ran in the next gubernatorial election and was re-elected.
He enhanced the quality of education in the state. He raised teachers' salaries and began a program of testing students after the third, sixth, and eighth grades. He also encouraged parents to participate in their children's education. His new educational standards ensured that every child in Arkansas, regardless of the size or wealth of his or her community or of family income level, would receive a quality education.
In 1991, he believed that the country needed someone with a new vision and plan, and he decided to run for President. He also felt that he had the experience and the best ideas for changing our country for the better. He wanted to strengthen the health care system, to improve the school system, and, most of all, to bolster the economy and create new jobs. He brought his message to the country by going door to door, holding one-on-one talks with people in town hall meetings, and appearing on various talk shows.
In 1992, voters turned out in record numbers and was elected President. He succeeded in bringing the people together in their efforts to change our country and worked to make a difference in the lives of others. He worked to ensure that each American has the opportunity to fulfill his or her dream.
lamarrebel
10-05-2005, 02:37 PM
In 1992, voters turned out in record numbers and Bill Clinton got a whopping 43 percent of the vote...isn't that a huge mandate!! In 1996, again he only won 49 percent of the vote, making him the only two term President in the history of the Republic to never win a majority of the popular vote.
Btw, the 2004 voter turn-out drawfed the turn-out in 1992 in both numbers and percentage of eligible voters. President Bush won well over 60,000,000 votes. Clinton didn't come close to that.
Sure, Clinton got elected at a very early age, and it was due to primarily to his charisma and (shall I say) sex appeal. Granted, he is a very learned man, how many Rhodes Scholars were there running around Arkansas in the 1970s?
As far as bringing America together, Bill Clinton was one of the most divisive figures in recent American history, becoming only the second President to be impeached, and the second to have his law license yanked. Just as King Ahab in the Old Testament led the children of Israel to idolatry and sin, President Clinton set a terrible example for the children of America. While granted, Ahab didn't have co-horts like MTV, SIN-E-MAX, and the like, a President should be someone who sets an example that makes us proud, not embarrasses us. Bill Clinton was every bit the disgrace to the Oval Office, that Chuck McRae was to the Mississippi Supreme Court.

What my husband did was the same thing all men do, chase women while the wives work and take care of the children.
I couldn't let this quote go unchallenged. This attitude of moral relativity is exactly what is becoming dreadfully wrong with our society. There are still millions of us, who believe in raising our children according to strict moral boundaries, exercising discretion in our actions, and showing loving commitment to our spouses. Not all of us are Bill Clintons, and enough of us were disgusted by his antics that we defeated his hack choice of successor Al Gore in 2000, in spite of the very strong economy of that time.

Whats this got to do with Al Gore? Polls showed time after time that if Bill could have run for a 3rd time he would have been easily elected President again. Even with all the scandals of his term, he still had a 15% greater approval rating than George Jr. does right now. And the strong economy is being choked by rising oil prices and the HUGE expense of the war. Clinton lies? What about George Jr. telling the Congress and the American people there were weapons of mass distruction in Iraq. All he has accomplished is calling an emergency mid-night meeting in Washington D.C. to keep Terri Schiavo on live support for another 15 years. Later it was found that she had NO brain activity. Maybe Bush should go to Medical School when his term ends.
WASHINGTON (CNN) --
Just 41 percent of the 818 adults polled between Friday and Monday said they approved of Bush's handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, while 57 percent disapproved.
And support for his management of the war in Iraq has dropped to 32 percent, with 67 percent telling pollsters they disapproved of how Bush is prosecuting the conflict.

First of all, Clinton's legacy and Al Gore's defeat are intertwined. If the incumbent party can't stay in power with the relative peace and strong economy that existed in 2000, it says something really bad about the outgoing President. Heck, my hand-picked successor was even elected student body president in law school at the end of my term, but Clinton's wonderful Presidency, as you would portray it, wasn't enough to sweep Gore into office. Clinton's personal and political misdeeds played a huge role in it.
Secondly, unllike liberals in general, and the Clintons in particular, President George W. Bush doesn't guide his policy decisions by poll numbers. He is guided by convictions and the steadfast desire to do what is right for America. As I recall, his poll numbers stayed near 80 percent for almost a year after 9/11. Just eleven months ago, not only did President Bush get re-elected, the GOP gained four Senate seats and sevearl additional House seats as well.
I believe it was brother Jeb, not W, who led the fight in Florida to save Terri Schiavo's life. And I applaud my good friend Joey Fillingane who is introducing a bill in the Legislature in January that will require the side of life be erred on when there is a dispute among family members as to the fate of people in conditions similar to Ms.Schiavos and where the patient in question had not previously expressed in a living will or similar document his or her desires regarding the continuation of life support when in a vegetative or semi-vegetative state.

I couldn't let this quote go unchallenged. This attitude of moral relativity is exactly what is becoming dreadfully wrong with our society. There are still millions of us, who believe in raising our children according to strict moral boundaries, exercising discretion in our actions, and showing loving commitment to our spouses. . .
Not to be confrontational, Hubbarrister, but didn't you say earlier that your wife makes you watch WLOX because of your lusting after a newscaster? (Perhaps I read too much into it, but that's the way I took it).
Also, regarding your post in the Target thread. . .I give very generously to the Salvation Army. . .THROUGH THE MAIL and AT THEIR CHARITY EVENTS. I'm not a fan of the bellringers (who are mostly volunteers getting community service points at the bank where they work or through their civic club); their presence at the entrance to the Target doors actually makes me feel less charitable. (Maybe that's a problem with me, I admit).
And, while I'm "waxing in the wrong thread", I might as well say I defend to the end of the Earth Target's decision to not sell the "end-of-days-as-Lahaye(sp) sees them" series, just as I defend their right to not have a Christian books section to your-or even my-satisfaction.
Your man Ronald Reagan, and my former boss, would reassure you that our beloved, beleaguered Constitution affords Target that right, and should even protect them from the sanctimonious judgment of anyone who disagrees with their decisions to open on Sunday.

Incumbent President Bush Sr. couldn't stay in power and was defeated by the only President in U.S. history to have sinned (your belief, that is). And doing what you think is right "regardless of the polls" doesn't mean you are making sound decisions.
You seem to judge every man or woman on what party he or she are affiliated with.
Unfortunately I am quiet certain that hell will be accepting both Democrats and Republicans. Don’t assume all Democrats are wrong and only those candidates who are running as Republican are moral. The Bible proclaims, “All men have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Thank you for quoting Romans 3:23, a verse I learned doing Bible Drills as a youth. There are still some good Democrats, but they are becoming fewer and fewer in number. Harry Truman, who led our nation in the aftermath of World War II, was a great Democrat in many ways. And of course Republicans and Democrats have all sinned in office, even including the great Ronald Reagan.
I will also quote another good Democrat who spoke at the 2004 GOP National Convention Zell Miller who said, "he (Bush) shares my belief, that God is not indifferent to America." What the dominant far-left wing that controls the Democratic Party is doing to America today is nothing short of obscene. Mark my words, had John Kerry been elected last fall, and had made these two Supreme Court appointments, gay marriage (despite his stated opposition to it) would have been rammed down our throats by the courts. The Pledge of Allegiance's "One Nation Under God" would be gone...again thanks to these unelected tyrants in robes. And that's only the beginning. Although it is vastly politically incorrect to say this, any great nation in history that has lost its moral and spiritual compass has soon ceased to be great. It happened to the Babylonians, the Romans, and in modern times Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union. Let us not be so prideful that we think the same cannot happen to us.
Liberals know that their crazy social policies do not fly with most Americans, so they know that the only place they can prevail is the Courts. I am just about truly convinced that the Founding Fathers got it wrong when they made our Judiciary appointed positions for life. Perhaps in 1787, the general public did not have the education or knowledge to be able to elect judges, but in today's highly educated and informed world that is no longer the case. If we gave some of these judges a sense of accountability and were able to vote out a few, some of the craziness of the last fourty years would have ceased.

Now Omerto, I was not criticizing the prospect of Target being open on Sunday, as I said, many businesses open on Sunday. What I was criticizing is the prospect of having the grand opening on a Sunday...I just think it would be in bad taste. Open on a Monday...or even on a Saturday, which is generally the weeks' busiest retail day, anyway.
Wal-Mart as you may have noticed, carries a huge section of Christian literature. I won't debate the Rapture with you, but there is huge interest and market in the End Times. This area is in the heart of the Bible Belt, and I think any major retailer that forgets that fact in what they sell is insulting their customers. If nothing else, it doesn't make good business sense.
I'd never be "forced" to watch WLOX or any news source, by anyone. I watch the news, unlike some, not to lust after the newscasters, but to be informed of the day's local events.

Hubby would you watch me? You know they say opposites attract.

Wynn thinks Hubby would definately watch Hill. Wynn thinks it's like that kindergarten romance, where you pulls on each others hair, and punch the peoples you crushin' on. All this fuss on MH forum reveals to Wynn a deep, burning desire (fetish)for political polar opposites. *Wynn sings* "Shake, Shake that @$$ Hill and let Hubb see what you got!"
